I bought my girlfriend the Epson Picture Mate on NewEgg.com for $159 with free shipping for Xmas. Sam's Club has them too, but wanted $169 plus tax at the time. I have no idea if the prices are the same or not.
It prints 4x6 prints of equal quality to any 35mm picture we have. We've also had prints printed from yahoo and some other source. I forget who. Anyway, there is no difference in quality. They look amazing.
Price per print is gonna be more. Even when you buy ink and paper in bulk, it's gonna run you from .20 cents each to .30 cents each to print them.
You can find prints online for under .15 cents each if you shop around. But you can't get them imediatley.
The Epson is portable. You can even buy a battery pack for it, but we didn't. We take it with us to family get togethers and print up pics right there for grandparents or who ever. Belive me, when you give them the print right then, you don't care that it cost .15 cents more.
Usually there is a few good pictures that they all want. We can print ten pics of the same thing and give them out to everyone!!!!
For ourselves, we hardly print pictures except for a few that are in frames.
You either plug your camera right into it with your cable, or it will take three different types of memory cards. It will also connect to your computer's USB port. They really did a good job making it user friendly and able to handle just about any situation.
We can do some editing, red eye and croping too. We don't have a negative thing to say about it, and highly recomend it!!! /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
I read some reviews before choseing the Epson and it seemed to be the best available in the price range.
