With the analog signals of today, you can watch a program on TV even if it's snowy. Digital is not as forgiving as analog. I would say that if your analog picture is not the best, (with snow and such), with digital you can forget it. It requires a better signal in order to work. You will probably lose any fringe stations you are used to watching, now. When the change comes, I will probably have to put up a higher outside antenna. Sometimes newer is not better... Thanks. That does help. Two questions:

The channels I watch on Dish Network are not HD now, nor will they be after the switch in Feb. HD is seperate for satellite users. Is this correct?

Will the new digital signal be stronger? By that, I mean will it reach farther. I use an antenna to pick up NBC and CBS from about 60 miles away. Right now, the stations are watchable, but not crystal clear. Will the new digital signal be stronger and yeild a better reception?

Yes, nothing will change for satellite and cable users in Feb.

From what I have seen in my area Redbug is correct, the fringe stations seem to be harder to get with the digital signal. They tend to "lock up", (freeze and unfreeze), at times. Perhaps a directional antenna, and a rotor, can solve the problem for you if necessary.
