Wow, you guys are moving pretty fast since you just started Sunday. What are you doing for a foundation?

Insurance wise we were OK. I was actually a bit over-insured. Now it didn't help in the sense that they only paid what it would have taken to rebuild the old house. We didn't go back that route so at least they paid the previous mortgage off and we had a few $$ to leftover so we are essentially financing the new house. The over-insured did help our content money though. Between that and the fact that I had bumped it to 2/3s coverage vs. the typical 50% that helped us get more money for our contents. Otherwise we would have been really screwed there. We are actually taking some of our content money and putting down on the house. With that and the land along with the pole barn that I built a few years ago, our Loan to Value ratio is pretty good.

Most of the foundation was okay, we had to replace the back wall as the frost pushed it in 4". I guess I'm counting the start of it from when the floor deck started. Masonry work doesn't count. A mason is just a carpenter that fell off the scaffold too many times.:)

We should have had half again insurance on the structure and contents. But, we never looked into it. Never felt the need to, until it was too late. We know we are going to have to take a loan to finish. But, we'll wait until we're almost out of money and see how much we need.
