dirt scoops--and my1401d

I've convinced my wife that I "need" a dirt scoop to move gravel,wood chips, and dirt around on our property. I tried a 24" scoop onto my 1401d but found it didn't lift high enough to dump--even with adjustments to the lift arms/supports.
I'm wondering if anyone else with a 1401 or smaller has had trouble/or success with a dirt scoop....or if I'm going to need to see a welder.

It is workable. I used one on a YM1300D. It worked fine.

They had to be made over here. If the lift arms are closer to the rear ( for lifting capacity) then they won't lift as high. You may have to move the attachment point closer to the tractor to gain lift. There isn't a jig for making and mounting them. Most people just eye ball them.

I have a 1401 with a 24inch scoop and it works fine. I adjust it with the top link.

Make sure your lift arm links are attached in the lower lift arm holes that are closest to the tractor for greatest lift. Normally there are 3 holes.

Thanks to everyone for the "dirt scoop" assistance! My Yanmar dealer had some new 24" scoops on his lot that a local
fabricator made; the frame is slightly smaller than the Howse brand, and it works perfectly with my 1401d! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
It's probably twenty pounds lighter than the Howse, but it's been working fine moving my mountain of gravel!
