Yes and I hate that about this new format. I wish that, that part were changed. Half the time, I forget to address the post to who it is directed.

I have seen one CNH franchise dropped. That was because of a spat between that dealer and CNH about the dealer's other line; JD. Rather than build "separate but equal" showrooms for the two, he opted to let the CNH franchise go.

Although I'm sure it has happened, I've never seen where a JD or Kubota dealer has gone out of business. A few have changed hands, but not gone under. When selling, the JD and Kubota dealerships get plenty of 'blue sky' for the franchise as well. Again, not saying that I don't believe you, but I've definitely never seen a JD or Kubota dealership go under.

The Kubota dealer I bought my L3010 from in 2001 went out of business, unexpectedly I might add, in 2001. I heard that it was from poor management but I do not know for sure. The dealership had been in that location for many years. After he closed a Kioti dealer took over that spot and and a new Kubota dealership was opened in a major town about 15 miles away. The Kioti dealer didn't last in that location before moving closer to town. He seems to be on the way out of the tractor business focusing on lawn care equipment and recreational vehicles.

It's too bad the Kioti dealer didn't make a good showing at that same place and show up the previous guy. Now that would rattle the Kubota management guys. ;)

"Now, since we have Kioti dealers watching, let's get that point correct. That is that they should be a little less expensive than the big three."

"As a "small Kioti" dealer, I'll interject that I think price increases, and shorter floor plan terms, different discount structure and the like have worked against some small dealers and some mulit line dealers that had Kioti as a low price line. The newer models of Kioti tractors, In my own and admittedly biased opinion, are world class. Kioti is no longer a "cheap" tractor, (we have the chinese for that). I would describe Kioti as a "value" tractor. If you only compare HP, then yes, you can find Kubotas in the same price range as the current Kiotis. What Kioti is missing in some HP ranges is the budget gear drive tractor, I have been told it is coming. As for dealers disappearing, it is probably happening on all brands, especially in some of the draught affected areas. In my part of Arkansas we are 10" behind in rain this year. The tractor business is a tough business. A lot of fun, but tough. Could be a lot of reasons why some "disappear". In my area, last year a major red tractor company disappeared...we are located in thier old store now, having expanded this spring."

I have had the same experience as Bluechip and share his views on this matter.

If you really compare apples to apples it gets much closer.
HP to HP just isn't fair, to either brand.
We sell as cheap as we possibly can and have very little overhead.
Kioti's prices went up to us and we had no choice but to pass it on.
The floorplanning for us is a BIG killer.
The AVERAGE amount a tractor is on our lot is probably 6 months.....
Some go much quicker some stay alot longer but we like having a big selection for customers.
So, sometimes we have to carry an "unpopular" model, this is the one that sits. If it sits we pay interest, interest is feeding a dead horse.
There went the profits on your last sale.
In my area ALL brands are feeling the heat, 0-turns included.

To Dargo I say--"You are preachin' to the choir"
As dealers we know where our customers are coming from and most agree.

In a town about 45 minutes away from us in the past month the JD dealership has dropped Kubota and the LARGE Massey/Kioti dealer went under. Times are tuff, margins are lower, floorplans are shorter and customers price shop until they drop...its not always peaches and cream being a tractor dealer.

Sorry BTI, but you completely missed my point. I only substituted the word cheaper with less expensive. My entire implication was that the tractors should be considered less expensive, not cheaper.

My dealer emphasized the warranty, heavy duty construction of a Kioti and price over a Deere.
I am seeing a lot of advertising by Deere and Kioti in our area but not Kubota or NH. Having shopped all four, my choice was between a Deere and the Kioti with Kubota and NH not in the running for various comparsion reasons.
I picked Kioti because it best met my need, nice dealer, good report from others, this forum, price, heavy duty construction and warranty.
PS What happened to KiotiJohn...he gave me some of the best and most courteous advice of all forum goers?

So do I. As one who didn't know up from down when I started looking for a tractor(still feel that way a lot), kiotijohn's helpful advice was invaluable. Please come back, kiotijohn. We need you.
