I have seen one CNH franchise dropped. That was because of a spat between that dealer and CNH about the dealer's other line; JD. Rather than build "separate but equal" showrooms for the two, he opted to let the CNH franchise go.
Although I'm sure it has happened, I've never seen where a JD or Kubota dealer has gone out of business. A few have changed hands, but not gone under. When selling, the JD and Kubota dealerships get plenty of 'blue sky' for the franchise as well. Again, not saying that I don't believe you, but I've definitely never seen a JD or Kubota dealership go under.
The Kubota dealer I bought my
L3010 from in 2001 went out of business, unexpectedly I might add, in 2001. I heard that it was from poor management but I do not know for sure. The dealership had been in that location for many years. After he closed a Kioti dealer took over that spot and and a new Kubota dealership was opened in a major town about 15 miles away. The Kioti dealer didn't last in that location before moving closer to town. He seems to be on the way out of the tractor business focusing on lawn care equipment and recreational vehicles.
