I have found a good used 3 pt 6' disc (2 rows of discs) and am wondering if that is too big for my JD 2720. Anyone know if that is too big to use behind my tractor? Thanks for the help!
My past experience has been the compacts such as the 2720 are much better suited for use with a rototiller. At about 2000 lbs I suspect traction would be a problem with a disk. You have enough pto hp with the 2720 to do a good job with a Deere 655 tiller or similar brand and model.
I have a 3616 and I pull a 6 foot disc like you want with it. Tractor weighs 2900 pounds. Tires are empty because I haven't had time to get them filled. Traction is fine unless its very wet ground. But I don't know how big your tractor is either.
Thanks for the input. My tractor is about 2k lbs (without loader). I also have a ratchet rake, so before I drop $300, I may just try the RR. I'm not going to do a big area, so the RR may be enough to just do food plots.
