disc mower recommendation

I have the same exact tractor and we use the t190 drum mower. We cut about 30 acres a year in Indiana with it. It works great. $3200. I rake it with an old rake we have an an old hesston baler. Get a drum mower for you what you need. Thanks

Looking for advice on best disc mower for Kubota L4400. Have about 15 acres to mow. Have looked at Sitrex (new) so far with a price tag of around $7K. Would consider something used if it was in good condition. Anything up from the sickle bar on the old 52 Farmall will be an improvement!

I'd go with a CCM drum mower for $3-3.5K.

Buying used is a crap shoot unless you like to rebuild/restore old equipment. I went that route several years ago with an old 7-ft Massey Ferguson MF31 sicklebar for my Mahindra 5525 tractor. It was cheap--$550 at auction. I installed about $200 worth of lnew parts (sickle sections, guards, fasteners). I rebuilt the thing three times and the cut still leaves much to be desired and it's very prone to jamming. As you likely know from your own experience, there's nothing more aggrevating than having to interrupt a time-critical mowing job (I assume you're haying) to fix a balky mower.

As they say- you get what you pay for. A CCM drum mower is on my gift (to myself) list.

ive enjoyed reading this old thread about disc mowers.an i saw where 2 dealers got into over who has the best disc mower to fitt her tractor.theres 1 way to buy a disc mower,an thats buy what you can afford that best suits your needs an tractor.im differant than most here as we have a pretty good sized farm with 150acs in hay.we use a custom baler to bale our hay,but it takes him a good while to get to it.an that drives me up the wall.but i deal with it untill i decide to jump back into baling my own hay.
