Hi guys. I have negotiated a $20 discount for TBN members on all the backhoes that CKP Backhoe has to offer. In order to get the discount, go to their website: CDP Backhoe and find the thumb you're intersted in. Then e-mail them at lizottec@ntl.sympatico.ca telling him you want the $20 discount for TBN members and the model you're interested in. You will have to send a check, cashier's check (10 day hold to clear), international money order or use Paypal to pay for it. These look like really nice add-ons to help grab hold of those big loads with your backhoe.
I have no financial interest in the company and will receive no compensation. I just wanted to help our members save a few bucks. Good luck, John

Yeah, I want to get one too as soon as I have some other things taken care of. The prices are not too bad and the extra $20 will help with freight. You will need to either weld them per instructions or have it done. John

Just wanted to make sure that I made it clear that this is a Kit to build the backhoe thumb. All the parts needed will be supplied, but the buyer will do the necessary welding or have it done. Check out some of the other cool offerings they have on the CDP Backhoe site. They have a kit for a portable backhoe that looks pretty handy as well. John

John,

I, for one, am truly sorry to hear that. I wish they'd have given you one or at least sold it to you at cost for your efforts on their behalf.

Nobull, I think yours was the first one that I saw. Looks easily put together and installed. Did you do your own welding, or have it done?
Gary_in_Indiana, it's not a problem for me. I actually had only sent the man an e-mail to correct a problem on the page about this thumb and he offered me a $20 discount on the thumb. I wrote back and asked if he would extend the offer to TBN members on all his thumbs. I'm happy with that deal as it helps members and the seller. I wish we could make deals like this for all implements etc. Every little bit helps! John

John,
I had a buddy of mine weld it for me as he has a stick as well as a mig.The assembly is easy to put together just like a jigsaw puzzle. The only thing is it took about 4 hours to weld it all together and that was welding most of the time. You have to be sure everything is straight ,lined up and doesn't twist from the heat.So you have weld move weld move I'm sure you get the picture.Don't underestimate how much work is involved, not hard but time consuming if you know how to weld.If you have to get someone to do it for you make sure they know what they are doing cause the last thing you need is for something to not fit. Also this steel is pretty heavy so you should have a good size mig or a stick welder. In my searching I found this thumb to be the best deal I could find and quality to be second to none.My next project,or at least somewhere in line /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif will be to add a hydraulic cylinder in place of the fixed arm as I have plumbing right to it.

Since Henro started a thread about the thumbs, I thought I'd bring this up again for anyone who may be interested in saving a few bucks on a backhoe thumb.
Note that some models can be used hydraulically. John
