I figure if they didn't want people to use the coupons, they wouldn't print them. However, I do rarely use coupons even though I think it's smarter to use them.

I don't understand your reasoning...you are saying it's smart to use them but you don't....???? Local Olive Garden is always having $4 off coupons printed, as far as I am concerned such a pittance off a dinner check isn't worth clipping...especially when I have to burn $6 worth of gas to get there and back. The local Smokey Bones offers $10 off a $20 dinner tab..where do you think I would choose to go?

If one REALLY wants to save money....

Then eat at home! :laughing::laughing::laughing:

We use coupons when going to a big pizza chain for pizza. We have a local place that has The Best Pizza ever and the are no coupons. We don't eat out much anyway so it is not big deal.

Sounds a bit like us, Dan. We don't eat out a lot, and we frequently have gift cards from our kids and grandkids that we use instead of coupons.:laughing: We used a gift card at a new place Saturday and I had to put $2.33 with the gift card.:laughing: And we still have 4 other gift cards on hand; one each for 4 different places.

I will use them if i have them and not shy, even with other people at the table. I search the whole net out when i buy something and will buy somewhere different to save $0.10, did it on amazon, amazon showed one dealer as they had freeshipping but if you looked in the others for sale on the right of the screen there was a different person with a cheaper price but you paid shipping, was less than $0.20 cheaper doing it that way, i just dont remember the exact amount.

I buy on ebay when i can or will find it about as cheap as i can.

The wife uses coupons at restaurants as well, we use to use them on groceries but dont get a paper and just got out of the habbit, we need to get back into it though.

Yeah, we can spend $30-50 on the pizza but at least we get 2-3 meals out of it. Funny thing is that the local place is run by a women who NEVER worked in a restaurant until she started her business. :shocked: The odds of her succeeding were pretty close to ZERO. She opened the restaurant up in an old hardware store which was behind an established pizza place on the main road in town. :shocked:

The business has done so well because her food is soo danged good. PIZZA HUT went out of business! Who ever heard of Pizza Hut closing? The lady bought the old Pizza Hut building and has completely redid it and reopened after being closed for a couple of months. I was really worried that she was over expanding and taking on too much debt but the parking lot was more than half full last night. By Thursday night the place is packed. There were never that many cars at the old Pizza Hut nor any of the other pizza places in town.

Her service is as good as the food. One night we ordered a couple of deserts with our meal. We always pickup though with the new place we might go for a sit down meal. Anyway, the wifey gets home and one of the deserts is missing so we call up the place. The owner answers and says she will bring us the desert! :eek::laughing::laughing::laughing: We just called to let them know that this had happened so that the next time we placed an order they could replace what was missing. No big deal. The owner was going to drive out to our place to give us maybe $5 worth of food. :eek: We met her half way because she insisted on bringing out the food. :laughing::laughing::laughing:

On Christmas Day or Eve she has free meals. She cooks up XMAS dinner and it is free to whoever walks in the door. :shocked: She has done this since she opened. At one point her restaurant was somehow helping fund a local private school as well. Not sure if she is still doing this or not. This lady is a treasure.

PappaJohns has opened in our town as well and when we want a cheap pizza we go there. Cheap meaning we have coupons! :laughing::laughing::laughing:

Hmmm. Got hungry for some reason and peanuts ain't looking so good for lunch.... :rolleyes: :laughing::laughing::laughing:

And there, in a nutshell, is probably the reason for her success. We have so many pizza places now that I don't see how they can all stay in business; both big chain stores and individual mom & pop operations.

the wife and I eat at red lobster now and then. we both love fish. one of our credit cards sometimes sends out what amounts to a 10$ off card / coupon to some of the places you frequent. so maybee 1-2x per year we will get a 10$ off 2 dinner card from that credit card, witht he caveat that you have to pay for the meal with that card.. etc.

we'll use those. haven't had much luck in finding general use coupons other than some lunch specials beyond that..e tc.

Wifey is big on coupons but I don't mess with them, just too much hassle. Last time we went to Red Lobster the bill was $50! Didn't have any coupons. Bill seemed high so asked the waitress to see the menu again. Thought what we had ordered was $8 but upon further inspection it was $18. Eyes just aren't what they used to be. :)
