Price Check Discount on Implements

Good relationship with your dealer always helps, even though I did not buy my BX from them I have bought several implements, a rider mower, several chainsaws, and parts for all those and the tractor. Early on I negotiated a 10% "Good Ole Boy" discount on anything I buy. He knows I am not going anywhere else now. Sales, shop, and parts all are on a first name basis and I am not a big ticket buyer.

Well, I've bought five tractors from a local dealer with good experience. This time, he is not interested in trading my BX2670 for a new 80 Series with the implements I want. He pushed me to run my tractor longer saying it will be worth the same next year with more hours on the clock. So, I asked him to price up implements alone that I'm looking for now , and also asked for a price with trading in my FEL blade and snow blower as an option.
(Insert crickets chirping here) Weeks. Over a month. No answer, no call, no email. I'm getting the feeling that he "knows" I will always return to him, but that ship might be sailing.
The other dealers I have called, are interested in trading, but if I buy stand alone implements, they slap on shipping charges to the MSRP. So, since I'm not getting anywhere local, I'm reaching out north a few hundred miles by my parents place to buy implements, or maybe a complete trade. If it works, great. If not, I may just forget the rear bagger, buy a rear blade for next winter, and go to a B-Series once they update the model like the BX.

I would say you have a better chance of getting a break depending on the time of year you purchase. The week before Xmas till the middle of january its like a ghost town at local dealers.

Can I expect to receive any discount on implement purchases purchased alone without a tractor deal? And if so, what can I expect?

If you want a discount you need to know your prices and haggle. Vote with your wallet and be willing to walk away.

Choose your implement and shop around for that exact implement. If you haven't decided on which one yet then you are a tire kicker time waster and salespeople smell it a mile away.

If the thing you want has been sitting on the lot a long while you will get a better deal. General rule of thumb is tractor dealers get to sit on inventory about a year before having to make payments. The longer they sit on an item the more it costs them.

Buy with CASH

Use the telephone and call dozens of dealers/suppliers. Get their best cash price up front. If the salesperson dickers or is rigid you will never get a deal. Say thank you and move on because you are wasting time talking with them.

Best time to buy is at the end of the month and find a salesperson who needs to make his/her quota. Sometimes it's better to deal with the owner directly and sometimes not. The trick is finding a person who wants a sale.

Support your local dealer. They need to make a living too.

Mekester, sounds good and all, and I don't agree, but your theory is good with rear mowers, bush hogs, rear blades, etc. Not so much with model-specific items, such as rear baggers and front blades. These two items I find almost all dealers order as needed, and stock on-hand is usually non-existent. If in stock, certain quantities are ordered "for the season", but almost always are pre-orders for customers interested.
I know it's a trick bag. Dealers say "we don't order baggers in winter... blades in summer". I understand because it was the same way when I wanted my blower. I had to get on a list for ordering prior to snow season in the fall.
