Had dish, kicked them to the curb, saved $60, had Comcast, kicked them to the curb, saved $65. Now have Netflix, Hulu, and a cheap Walmart antenna.

I saved about $60/mo by cancelling them outright.

Was around $90 for me :D:D Total cost for tv now is $10 per month for Netflix when there's nothing but crap on the 4 local stations I can get :D

So I have Dish Network for about 8 years (autopay). Log in to do something and noticed on the bill a charge for about $9.00 per month as a "Priority Service" or some such nonsense to get them out here faster if there is a problem.

Seems to be SOP to milk satellite TV customers. These are from my DirecTV monthly bill. $50.64 for nonsense that should be free. Little wonder why folks are seeking alternatives.

Regional Sports Fee $6.64 (have no idea what this is)
Watch Multiple TVs $21.00 (why are they charging me $21 when it costs them $0?)
Advanced Receiver Service - HD $10.00 (they still charge for HD like it's something new from 2010)
Advanced Receiver Service - DVR $10.00 (I had to buy the DVR. Why am I being charged to use MY property?)
Whole-Home DVR Service $3.00 (why isn't this included with MY DVR?)

So - I just checked my Dish network bill. I have $12 monthly fee for local channels. Monthly FCC regulatory fee - $0.03. Monthly taxes - $0.73.

There is no way I can reach local channels in Spokane with an outside aerial - I have tried.

I am signed up with paperless auto billing. Works just great for me.

I do not have a DVR.

Looking at the breakdown of rekees bill vs mine - - somebody is getting the SHAFT.

I've been with Dish a LOOOOONG time and never had to have them out for a service call. So I have no idea how long I would have to wait. Maybe the wait would be so long that I would decide to live out here, without TV.

They have changed their policy since I inquired then.

Years ago it was auto pay or nothing. I'm not complaining. It saved me from signing up. :)

I am thinking of adding "DogTV" to my DirecTV package. Our dogs sleep in the family room, and I think they would like to have it on at night.

somebody = ME :) Those special new customer deals from Dish are becoming very tempting.

I know people that regularly switch back and forth between DISH and DIRECT as soon as the commitment expires. The promotional pricing is cheap.

Log in to do something and noticed on the bill a charge for about $9.00 per month as a "Priority Service" or some such nonsense to get them out here faster if there is a problem. I'm pretty frugal (okay, I'm cheap when it comes to this stuff) and would never have said purposely - sign me up on that. I think the phone company used to call it "cramming", where they or some other third party would just add a few items to your bill, and I probably "said yes" to something without catching it, but I for one would rather keep my $9.00/month and have them get out and fix the problem like a good service provider for services I've already paid for.

FYI - maybe you can save a few bucks.

You might also be paying a "lease fee" for the equipment that over time is several times more than what you can buy the equipment for.
