I would recommend the tube frame disk.

Actually that is a picture taken at the Tulare World AG Expo in California. It is a picture of my brother who is 6' 2" and gives a perspective of just how big this thing is. 40" disk pans, 1/2" thick.

And people say that disks are not for major ground tillage and that they are not used any more. These types of disks take a wee bit bigger than a 50-60hp tractor to even move. I assume that with as many venders of these that there are at the Expo, that this type of tillage is still done in many places. ;)

Back in the early 1950's my dad drove a dozer that pulled an enormous disc harrow with discs that he said were 60". This was in very deep sandy soil where they were trying to turn the sand under and turn up some better soil.

I have about a 4.5ft wide angle iron frame disk. I use it for foodplots for deer/turkey. I have to add a 150-200lbs on top for it to cut through the sodd/grass in my fields. if i wait more than one season it becomes a chore to penetrate the grass again. If its done 2x per year its easy and pulls right through the dirt. I have greaseable bearing in it as well. It works perfect for the $200 i paid for it.
