This is the new one I got from the dealer. Looks like they have done just what you suggested -- the shaft comes through the hole in the plate about twice as far, then they have added that brace welded across the end of the shaft.
That should make this part more rugged.

Stronger design. Wise choice. Hope the manufacturer helps with cost since they improved the design.

Hello Terry,

I am glad for your sake that you were able to obtain a replacement weldment
for your flail shredder quickly.

They have obviously had trouble with this weldment previously since this flail shredder
was offered to the flail shredder market.

Please fill in the pin holes at the end of the 3 exposed welds with some super glue or
JB weld as they are moisture traps and the welds may weaken over time.
I am surprised that they missed them when the final inspection of the welds was done.

I would have a machine shop grind all the old weld off, prep the metal for several layers of weld and have them weld it back on the way it should have been to begin with. It doesn't look like, from the pictures, they got good penetration and the weld appears to be too thin.

I agree, but if you read the rest of the thread you will see that I already have an OEM replacement, which is reinforced much better than the original.

My son is visiting for a few days and we got the new part installed. Getting the old one apart proved to be less difficult that I was expecting but getting the mowing head mounted on the shaft on the attachment bracket proved challenging. Getting heavy parts properly aligned was the issue. I was glad I had his help.

In the meantime, Peruzzo came up with a $75 credit on the $375 part. A good gesture, I suppose.
