Ditch mower from bush hog?

Well after seeing all the responses, it would appear that the best solution to this problem is a kid with a weed whacker. Guess I'll go hit up craigslist.

Or build something out of a push mower or hedge trimmer that can be carried with a 3 point or on a FEL bucket.

I have a S105 Woods ditch bank cutter and love it. I bought it at a farm auction for $200. I pull it behind a Kubota L4240 (about 6-7K# with loader and filled tires) and have no problems with it being too heavy. Mine does not even have the tail wheel option like the one in the picture. I have 400 pounds of suitcase style weights on the opposite end and it balances it out really well. I cut the banks of my ponds. It also works well for cutting under branches near tree lines and cutting near fence lines because you dont have to get so close with the tractor. It is by far my favorite implement. I am a mechanical guy so all of the drive lines and gear boxes fasinate me. If anyone needs any more info on it let me know.

Would love to see some pictures of your rig.

When I was able to frequent mid west consignment auctions, there were many examples of Woods ditch mowers that brought in the 700-1200 range in used easily reparable condition to ready to go. That was before steel got so high, but I bet there are lots sitting around farmsteads in the corn belt yet... rusting and still able. I wish more than once now I had gotten one.

If I wanted on bad enough I would go looking and figure on some rebuilding to get it going... they have been around a long long time.

Mine was built in the early 70's and still runs strong. When I first bought it I changed 2 bearings which a local tractor shop had in stock. They mentioned that the replacement parts are still readily available. If you find one for sale that needs some repair I would not hesitate to buy. It is a very handy tool.

The vineyard has raised beds that slope to the center of each row. Requires two trips with a 3point finish mower or bushhog running off pto.
Would like some info if you can.

PT has a boom mower and a knuckle boom mower. They run about $5000 but I don't know why.

Basically, it is a hydraulic motor mounted on a deck . You can build it to suit your needs. To select the hyd motor, figure out hyd GPM your tractor can provide, and select a motor to match. or use one of the PTO pumps by Prince. Rig up a boom for the unit, and maybe counter weight. Maybe something like this.
