Ditch Witch C99

   / Ditch Witch C99 #71
I am new to this.
I just acquired a Ditch Witch C99 and I am hoping to get it working.
I got the engine to run but it looks like the chain bar is rusted in place and can't be adjusted.
The idler sprocket bearing is totally gone.
There is a forward and reverse transmission?????
I sure could use a copy of the operators manual.
Also a parts manual.
Any help will be appreciated. So far the trenches have been dug with a pick & shovel.
Hope for some automation!

Bill, I would be happy to send what I have. Please private message me (click my ID, then Private Message) an email address that can accept attachments.

I cannot easily attach docs to a forum post or a private message reply.

And yep, there is normally a forward and reverse. It's a planetary rotating clutch kind of thingey (hey, you're the engineer :) ) inside of the right rear wheel. "Transmission" is a bit of an overstatement, but it's an invaluable part of how this thing is supposed to work.

You want to maneuver in forward, but trench in reverse! Or you will be killed or cause irreparable harm to more than you can imagine. Just sayin'.

Have purchased a couple of C99's over here in Oz - would love a manual or parts book if anyone has a copy.
Thanks all.

Get me a real email addie so I can send attachments. You can send a private message and I will respond.

Dave, just sent you a PM. Glad you're still watching and responding to this thread! Picked up a C99 from a neighbor in bad shape. It's going to take a lot of work to get it running - but I'd much rather be wrenching than digging by hand.

Thanks in advance!

Happy to help. There must still be a lot of C99s out there!

All I ever need is a real email address (thanks for the PM) so we can keep them trenching!

Im working on getting an inherited C99 back in service. Ive got the manuals (thanks, daveshoot!), but it appears that my adjusting screw shaft and nut are sliding right over each other, thus preventing any control over the boom from the adjusting wheel. It seems as thought one or the other (or both?) are stripped out. Can someone tell me what the dimensions are supposed to be for that shaft (part 190-001)? Heck, can anyone suggest a place where I might get replacements for these parts or do I need to fab some?

Hi,
I've got a C4 that has been working fine but just had the drive lockup on me. I took the reducer apart and have a couple of gears with broken/missing teeth. Does anyone have an old C3, C4, C7, C9 or C99 that was running well when it blew its engine that would like to sell the Reducer/Shifter assembly? I checked with my Ditch Witch dealer and the prices for the replacement gears are astronomical (maybe they have to machine them from scratch?). Anyway, decided I need to find a good used Reducer to keep her going.
