Understood. I'll gladly be the guinea pig that gets to find out.

If it changes your impressions of the thing... its made of 3/16" plastic all around. And its used on my 10HP/30" walk-behind, which is a beast of a snowblower in its own right, albeit without a lever arm.

Also, the cam itself only works on rotation. Its the bike cables that keep it in place. So if the snow is pushing on the chute, in order for the cam to rotate, the bike cable has to give it the slack to rotate first.

Does that make you think any better of it? [Its too bad I didn't do this LAST November!]

Not really because it's the the plastic stuff that has to sit between the bicycle cable and the primary arm and take all that load during the conversion from rotary motion to linear motion.

Something to consider, maybe you could make it a double barrel chute controller. Put another setup on the other side of the chute and run both cables to the same lever...? Sure would look neato.

Good luck buddy!

Edit: But maybe because it's a component from another snow machine it'll stand up just fine, what do I know anyway?!!

We will know in seven or eight months!

Ensoll wasn't kidding about a factor of safety of two!

Despite his very valid points it does look promising arrabil. If the cam does break, at least you'll have a really good idea what you need for version 2.0.

Best of luck, we're rooting for success with 1.0

Thanks for the support. Though I agree with most everything Ensoll has said I think the cam is stronger than what the pictures convey and so I think it will work just fine in v1. But its possible it won't too.

If there is a v2, it will be the exact duplicate of the Yardman design and the cam will do all the rotation and support all the weight of the chute instead of being stationary with a lever arm.
