Okay, by no means is this really worthy of a "do it yourself". I'm aware all I did was pop a few screws and attach a chain. BUT. I had been doing some grading and felt I was at a point where I had done all I could do with the tractor, and I needed a drag or to start working it by hand.

Well, I have this old tractor tire I will flip for exercise, and some old treated 4x4x8 posts, so I put this together with a chain and drug it around and it actually worked really well!

I needed to throw something together with what I had on hand. First I tried to just screw one 4x4x8 to my (~30') chain with a long length behind the post but it didn't do much. This actually works! By no means did it eliminate all hand raking but it made it minimal.

Nice work! The only problem I see; you can't back it up. :ROFLMAO:

I definitely can't back it up. Haha. I was very careful with my lines and a time or 3 I had to get out and man handle it over one way or the other.

I can lift or lower the 3ph though depending on the situation to adjust the aggressiveness of that front 4x4.

I would like to pair this with a boom pole to lift the back and then I might really be able to back up.

This is my DIY land leveler pulled from the scrap pile:

I really like the idea of the cattle gate as a leveler. I've priced gates recently, I want to add one to my shed I park my trailers and tractor in.

They're priced such that I even think it would be worth buying a new one for this task, if it works that well.

Old piece of train track, skidder tire chain cut in 1/2 and a piece of tubing of some sort….

Here's one I made years ago out of scrap I had.
I just bought some Rough sawn oak 4x4's last week in MO. to replace the old treated pine ones that are cracked, broken and worn out. It has provisions to add some weights to it, although these new oak posts are so heavy, probably won't need to use any.
I'll have to take another picture this weekend of it in use when I replace the 4x4's

Here it is as Rev2. Upgraded the hitch so it can be backed up and near 90 degree turns can be made without hitting the wheel of the JD or ATV.

A 3-"blade" version should be better than the common 2-blade type. All the weight will be on the center when crossing a hump for better cutting. And the center will be suspended at a dip, letting the material go under to fill the dip.

ilogs...i do have a set of chains with the ring cleats in them. They are about worn out as far as logging. Came with out Bell Feller Muncher. Yep, we still use one.

When not in use, I would hang it about 4' off the ground, from a tree, outside the front porch.

NO ONE will come knocking at your door.

Here's one I made to lightly drag soil over seed that needs a shallow cover. Angle iron, old tire chains and a piece of PVC pipe.

I was working on the lawn today and needed something a little less aggressive. This worked pretty well. I can lay my big tire on top if I ever need to.

I've made a few.
Both in wood and steel.
Always 3 blades with the center angled so as to 'slice' humps and move the material over to the dips. If the surface is very 'hard packed' teeth can be added on the front blade.
We maintained a well travelled 3 mile dirt road for some 12 years with such a rig while towing behind an old Willis Jeep.
For shock absorbers we used old 12 inch tires and linked the tow chains thru them.
We used 2 chains for better directional control.
