I finally finished my DIY fire pit. Three days of work, in sweltering heat, but finally got it done. Tonight I lit a fire, had a couple of beers and reminisced of days gone by. The holes in the fire ring are supposed to make it smokeless. The jury is still out on that. Glad I own a little Massey GC1723. Ihad to move a couple of yards of dirt to level the area and then spread all the gravel.

Love a happy ending! Taste of fall in the air. We like sitting around the fire too.

Like your chairs too. Have a couple like that. Built to last before there was weight ratings.

I bet it will be years before it needs a cleanout. I burn 2 - 3 cords of wood a year in my firepit and clean it out every 3 - 4 years, getting less than 2 wheel barrow loads of ash for the garden, (less than 10 cubic feet). His ash is going to wash into the gravel and disappear for the most part. My firepit is 6' across built on a concrete pad.

I agree, nice job on the firepit.

Nice!
Dry pine split small burns hot and fairly fast.
Follow with small split hardwood. Smaller wood (3" or less) burns better/hotter for outdooor fires.

Holy shllt! 2-3 cords in a firepit? I burn 3 cords each winter to heat the house.

I like the ventilation hole design along the perimeter. I guess that's why its called a "Smokeless" fire pit?

I’m kinda partial to a fire on an elevated platform.
