Depends on the tranny in question...

I can release the clutch & leave the throttle alone & my Eurovan will climb my sloped driveway onto the road. When I leave a stop, I need to get into second gear as quick as I can to avoid that good old 1st gear jerking. I usually get it into second before the back wheels pass where the fronts were while stopped.


I suspect that, as long as he keeps it in 1st gear, he'll be quite capable of keeping it in range of normal tractor speeds.

Of course, 5th aughta be a blast...

The key is application. That is the beauty of the JCB FastTrack and the MB Track systems. Research has shown that tractors spend most of their time traveling at higher speed (in Europe anyways). Applications are typically higher range speeds, about 85% of the time. I am totally stoked on this guys ability and genius. If it comes up short in any way shape or form, modification will be necessary, but easily done and the ability to make those changes has been demonstrated beyond question for me. Hats off to this effort, one of the best threads going!

I am also in planning/design/parts gathering stage for my own tractor using 3/4 ton drivetrain and an isuzu pup diesel engine. Planning to drive it with a hydraulic motor.I have most of the major components except for the hydraulics. Maybe I should start a topic here at TBN, as I have a lot of questions about the hydraulic portion of it.

Sorry guys, when I dont have any good news I tend not to post.
I've been sidelined working on other projects. The weather is turning now so hopefully I can get started on the tractor again soon.
The wheel deal has gone down the tubes. Looks like I might have to make my own.
