Dang it, I read every darn post, its like a good book, only with pictures, but missing the last 50 pages. That is probably the coolest thing I have ever seen. Hope to see more of it.
Hey GT2, hows the rig comin' along? Good work on a well thoughout project. Nice workmanship too. Keep it up and keep us posted. This project of yours is like a great suspence novel. Keep ya wantin more.
hey there gt2 i was wandering, the axles that you have used for your project, do they have some sort of differential lock on them? i was just browsing the internet for ideas because i have for some time now been debating as to whether to build a remote control tractor. i was thinking of having a switch on the control that activated diff locks and if these axles did i would consider copying yours idea providing it is a simple mechanism. cheers and good luck. joe
Having owned several Samurai's in the past I can say that they have open differentials. You can upgrade which a automatic locking differential like a "Lock right" which would be good for the rear or front for a slow moving tractor. You can also weld up the spider gears but then steering will be affected. For traction you need a diff lock or very flexible drivetrain that keeps all tires on the ground. For a tractor you don't want the Axle wrap that comes with a flexible drive train. I am interested to see what the solution becomes. I would recommend at minimum chains on all tires, but I still use my Kubota's Diff lock all the time even with chains.
