By the way, I looked at the Mother Earth News web site you suggested. Lot's of interesting stuff, but nothing about wood preservation. I'll stick to the linseed oil/Bee wax/Turpentine blend... before that I got a couple of other 'small' projects - a new roof, a new barn/equipment/storage building, a new bathroom - just to mention a few. Think it's going to be a busy summer - maybe I'll add some threads to the forum...

Hi Jeson,

That blend sounds like a good bet for your wood. Mother Earth is all about Homesteading and doing things naturally so probably they have some wood preservation recipe buried in their archives, just not indexed on the web.

People here like pictures, so please keep us posted on the barn, etc.

A lot of their projects concern generating power. They also have articles on general construction as well, focusing on energy saving techniques and materials.
