What ritcheyvs mentioned about not just guessing and replacing parts without diagnosing the issue first leads to big $ spending on things like starters and batteries, which most times don't need replacing.
I mention this for the OP, but more importantly, for others who may read this post.
Additionally the OP mentioned removing the positive cable from the battery and leaving it overnight. NO, do not remove the positive cable from the battery. Always remove the negative cable from the negative post. Do this to prevent sparking when disconnecting any battery and do the opposite when installing a battery, positive first, negative last.
I also suggest people ask BEFORE replacing ANY electrical system part, especially batteries, and in particular starters. They seldom fail, but batteries often do.
