Backhoe DK40 backhoe

We just picked up a DK40 with a 8 1/2 foot backhoe. The tractor and hoe work great, but there seems to be a lot of flex in the subframe. It is a little unnerving to be sitting on the backhoe seat and feel your back on the tractor and realize your moving around a couple of inches and the tractor is not. I called a friend with a DK35 and hoe and says his does the same thing.

My Mahindra with the Dayco Hoe has no flex at all.

Is this normal?

It's been the same on my tractor, and it appears that it's a good thing. Without that movement at times, I'm afraid there would be damage.
I've seen the same on other Kioties as well, and I think it's designed to give. John
EDIT: One thing though, just make sure all the bolts remain tight. I don't want to confuse the give I know exists with possible loose bolts. All that action can loosen them sometimes. John

Thanks for the info , I like the tractor and hoe , but just wanted to make sure that was the way they are designed.

My friend with the DK 35 told me the same thing. Check the bolts every so often as they can loosen up with all that flexing.

dbelisle and KiotiJohn, could you 'place' some type of heavy rubber insulator where the metals rub back and forth to at least quiet the noise? Also to reduce the shock of it banging? Just a thought. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

There isn't really much "banging" that I've notice unless one is not careful with swinging which can really throw the bucket to the side, but that's not really a problem once used to it. As for the noise, I haven't noticed much of that either, above the sound of the tractor and hydraulics that is.
All-in-all, I have no problem with the BH and it's operation. Works very well for the size and design of a CUT backhoe. The only thing I have the problem with is the BH seat rubbing the gas tank, which is easily blocked with some foam rubber between them. John

I removed the bracket that holds the hook for the top link, and moved the seat down so it doesn't rub anymore.

The Hoe works fine and is very powerful, and if the flex is made into the machine , I will get use to it and don't have a problem with it.

I have 240 hours on the Mahindra and the Dayco hoe is solid with no flex at all,

I have 10 hours on the Kioti , So it is going to take some time to get use to the flex.

The snapping and banging noise is gone, I think it was caused buy the seat touching the tractor and flexing things that where not supposed to be flexed.

I've got a Kioti 2385 backhoe on my DK 45. I've have been using it a whole lot here lately working on our house foundation, digging everything from topsoil and loam to heavy clay and rocks.

I noticed the first time that I used it that there is really nothing to hold the backhoe subframe firmly in place. It slides into the bracket underneath the operators platform (tying it into the loader subframe) and into the bracket that it attached to the tractor at the drawbar. There are two pins on this bracket that keep the backhoe from sliding out. Other than that, I assume it stays on due to friction.

I notice some movement in the backhoe when I cycle it quickly, but it seems to have mitigated quite a bit as I have become more proficient with the hoe. I can still make a pop and jerk when swinging the hoe to the side with a load too quickly, but it seems normal.

I've probably put 30-40 hours of hoe operation and I have yet to have a problem (knock on wood). Good luck and I hope things go well for you.

when i bought my kioti lb1914 with loader and backhoe it did not come with a top link. the first good stump i got to i felt the back of the seat bounce of the rops installed a top link and have not had a problem since. wart

I don't really understand this statement. I have to take my top link off when I hook up the backhoe as it's just in the way otherwise. What is there to hook up the top link to? Am I missing something? You are talking about the top link that hooks to 3pt. attachments, right? Thanks, John

I'm with KiotiJohn - I have to take off my top link to put my backhoe on and there is no place to attach it to the backhoe frame. Must just be a difference in the style of backhoe hookups for the different models of tractors.
