Rademamj1, thanks for the detailed and informative response. That all makes sense until I search for "Grade 9 Metric bolt torque" - then I come up empty. I find plenty of information on SAE sizes, but nothing for metric in Grade 9.

I wonder if my dealer installed SAE bolts here? Everything else on this tractor has been metric, but I've observed all kinds of SAE/metric fastener mixing on some domestic trucks and cars.

The bolts on my tractor are not loose, but I like to take a torque wrench around the machine once a year and check lug nuts/bolts, loader bolts, and anything else that may work loose over time. I used to have a torque value for these bolts provided by the dealer service department, but I can't find it and that dealership has changed hands and I'm less inclined to contact them. This is kind of a mystery and now even more so a puzzle to me!

I'll contact the dealer for advice and let you know what I discover.

Thanks,
Mike

Hello again,

Called the dealer and his tech says, "Tight enough, but not too tight!'

Lord, I hope I never need them to torque down any critical engine parts...

Still looking!

Thanks,
Mike

Holy crap, I have the answers right here! Just need to open a few books and quit being lazy.

Service manual has a great torque chart for the bolts in question Loader bolts.jpg. My loader owner's manual has the exact sizes of bolt used in each position. Torque chart.jpg
