I thought my Kubota was hard to get into and out of 4WD, too, until I read the manual. Then, it was easy. The secret with Kubota (unknown if this applies to you) is to have the vehicle still, idle, neutral, clutch in, gently seek to move the lever in/out of 4wd while turning the steering wheel slowly from left stop to right stop and/or back. Somewhere along the way the 4wd lever will easily slip in/out of 4wd.

It doesn't seem reasonable for a manufacturer to design for extreme pressure/extra leverage required to insert into/out of 4wd. Hopefully you can discover the secret for your tractor /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

No it doesn't seem right. And I will probably found out it is more operator than tractor that is the problem. I have tried as you have suggested. Maybe I wasn't holding my mouth right /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif.

Follow the 4wd linkage to where it goes into the case and spray it down good with your lube of choice. I would recommend something that will dissolve rust.

This seems to have done the trick. It took several sprayings to get it to soak in but now it goes in and out of FWD fairly easy. Thanks to all for your suggestions.

Glad to hear its working now... remember to spray it down, along with the shift linkage, from time to time. This will prevent it from getting stiff on you again.
