Has anyone put expandable metal or a grill on their DK45s brush guard? Looking for some ideas! It's all tubing with no plate sides. Looking for a clean and functional mounting.

Was pushing some trees around the other day and got to wondering what would happen if a branch came through the guard and I didn't like the thought!

Greg, I'll share with you the process I went through and maybe you can adapt some of the ideas.

First I made a cardboard template of the brush guard..... which I then used to lay out on a piece of expanded metal. I cut the expanded metal a few inches larger on the sides and then bent and formed the sides to lay in next to the side plates. Then I trimmed the formed expanded metal sides to be within the width of the brush guard side plates. To make the connection along the top I cut a piece of pipe in-half longways so it would saddle the top pipe. Formed the expanded metal over the saddle pipe. Drill four holes through the top of the saddle pipe and laid a 1" wide piece of metal strap across to secure the expanded metal to the saddle pipe. You can't see the saddle pipe in the picture because it's painted orange. I did use one stainless steel hose clamp in the middle to secure the saddle pipe to the top brush guard pipe. The bottom I cut a 1/4" steel plate and sandwiched the expanded metal between the brush guard and plate. The D ring is welded to the steel plate.

Your grill guard looks good. I also like the tow ring, that is a good idea.

My CK30
I dont ford the brush so a demi-guard is fine
I used 1/8th in pre perforated steel plate

I made an angle iron frame with expanded metal welded to it. Used two tabs on top and a latch type hook on the bottom. Here's a pic. I used a hole saw to miter around the cross tubes.

Looks like a screen from a hammer mill. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

I was duly inspired by Red Rocker and his attempts to turn his tractor into a Nascar racer. LOL
If you look close I used two pieces---down low where the guard angles back I cut another piece ( cut the side angles w/ a plasma cutter and welded, ground and finished so it angles under to prevent stuff from jamming upward.)
I tack welded along the edge in spots and ground it down like body work and refinished it all
Im not sure what a screen from a hammermill is---being mostly a city slicker w/ country rec. property

I like to think of it as my own Sherman tank. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
