afternoon folks..
great messages - love this board and will continue to use it once the DK55 arrives (in fact, since i'm unable to sleep at the moment, i'm burning the midnight oil on a dedicated website which addresses everything i learned during the long process of deciding which tractor i needed).
the one point i did not make clear (my apologies!):
i was in the market for a compact tractor, specifically, the
L5030 due to the HP and the transmission (my wife will need to use this machine to clear the driveway in the winter).
the reason i went with the Kioti was that option-for-option, it was far more tractor, at a VERY discounted price, over the Kubota. once i drove the DK55, it was clear that the one reason i was leaning toward the kubota-namely, the transmission, was not important. my wife will have no difficulty operating this machine.
when i shopped for the
L5030 (across 4 states!), i was very impressed with the overall quality of the machine.
what didn't impress me (frankly, i was downright irritated) was that for close to 45k (with FEL and BH) i didn't understand
why Kubota was charging me for every single line item:
- radio, rear wiper, work lights, etc.
with the Kioti, there are no options. everything comes standard.
i realize that i'm comparing 2 different machines - and that one would have to compare the M-series Kubota with this DK55.
the bottom line is that i gave 3 kubota dealers the opportunity to deal. none choose to do so.
after i did extensive homework on the kioti, and drove it, it was clear that the $ saved would buy alot of extra farm gear.
you'll notice that i chose not to reveal the price paid for this tractor. i gave my word to the dealer (Ken Valenti in NH) that i would not provide that information (my deal was contingent upon very unique factors: cash down payment, the fact that 3 neighbors have purchased from him in the past 2 years, and the number of implements i purchased at the same time i bought the tractor).
i apologize if this irritates some - but i need to honor my word.
i would advise anyone, that if they are in the market for a new tractor, look at the Kioti. it is not a kubota, there are fit-and-finish differences. then work with your dealer(s) to find the price that meets your budget.
i honestly feel that the features of this tractor, for the $ paid, is the best darn value i've ever seen.
sorry for the long post!
1 week and counting (i hope - i need some sleep!)
cheers.
