Do CCM DPOCV Fittings Require O-rings?

If one part has a cone and the other has a recessed cone, you do not use a washer.

Can you show a pic of your fittings, using macro setting on your camera?

Just do what CCM says and if it does leak, send the stuff back.

I didn't suggest you call them so I could prove you wrong or I felt you had to. I suggested you call them so you could help us less knowledgeable out. CCM has already on two separate occasions said no washer nor o-ring is used. Although I understand the different types of British Standard fittings, I don't have enough experience with them to argue your points. All I can do is agree with them -- although it goes against what I have learned.

I thought your HTL was a CCM unit as well.

My HTL was purchased from the Surplus Center-I believe that are the same thing and CCM was in the busy hay season when I was ready to buy.

I did not feel you where trying to prove me wrong at all, I think you want me to prove them wrong...and since I am not a customer I don't feel that it is right for me to do so.

<sigh>

NO.... I just want to get to the bottom of this. You say one thing, the manufacturer says the opposite. See my dilema?

Again, I was just hoping someone with knowlege about these fittings could have an intelligent discussion with CCM and find out why they say otherwise. Do you realize I can't have this discussion with them -- in any more detail than I already have -- because of my lack of knowledge with these fittings? I can't tell if their explanations have merit or not. I'm kind of a third-party here.

I could send a pic of the setup all put together, however I assume that will not help. I would rather not take it apart since I am not having any issues with it.

I do appreciate your help though. Thank you.

I realize some will think I am silly since I am not having any leaks. I just found the discussion interesting and wanted to know more about it for my own knowledge.

If it is not leaking, that is what it is suposed to do, not leak.

Do you really understand about cone type fittings? It is a metal to metal seal, and no o-ring is required if both fittings are parallel threads, and one has a cone, and the other has a recessed cone. If both fittings have parallel threads, and only one of them has a cone, then an o-ring is required.

JIC fittings are similar, cone and recessed cone. Pipe thread is tapered and seals by compression. It usually needs something to help seal, like TEFLON or TEFLON paste.

You need to take all the data given and read through it several times and go on the Internet and verify the truth we have spoken or not.

There are probably some people that are using o-rings on the cone and recessed cone fittings, and then wonder why they are leaking.

If anyone thinks they have improper or leaking fittings CCM provided just call us and we will replace them. We have thousands of hydraulic toplinks working properly in the USA. It is possible an improper BSPP to NPT could have been sent with your toplink. This is not a safety issue because the double piloted check valve locks the toplink in place.

We are not saying there is a problem but we want our customers to check the product they purchased from us. Customer satisfaction is what we strive for in all our products. Thank you for your business.
