I have had my mower for 6 months now and until today I have never used it. I hooked it up and all ready to mow ....but.... oh no ... the flowers are in bloom says the wife, you can't mow them. Finally found some brush in the back to mow (left the flowers), and the spillway thistles were targeted also. This photo is the front yard - no mow area. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

If I'm mowing, it gets mowed /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif! G

If my wife is not home when I mow, the flowers are toast. Or if I get them before they bloom I can claim they were "fat grass," not flowers.

Of course, this doesn't get me very far with the Wife...so I've been transplanting the bulbs out of harms way for several years now.

That is lovely yard of Flowers.

They who must be obeyed do have a habit of not considering grass mowing requirements when planting their flowers.

I wait for the flowers to get done doing there thing then mow. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif We have people stop and try to dig up the Brown eyed Susan flowers in our fields because we have so many some years. Of course if some one wanted to pay me some money to use the field they'd be history.

Don, from bluebonnet season until the indian blanket and purple coneflowers go to seed, I make it my habit to not mow in those areas. It looks kinda rough, but in a pretty sort of way. It also gives me an excuse to put off mowing while I get other springtime projects done. Just yesterday, I mowed around a big patch of Texas vervain and foxglove. Maybe I'm an ol' softy, but I just can't bring myself to cut down the wildflowers. Even the thistles are pretty and I let some of them survive every year. I guess you'd have to say my vote is with your wife on this one. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

What you have there Don is a wildflower prairie. Looks great! People up here are paying thousands per acre to get that look. If it were me, I'd cut some trails through it and enjoy the beauty /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
