Do I need a 3 point quick hitch?

I've been thinking about the 3 point quick hitches. I'd never really considered one until I noticed some posts on here regarding them. So here's my questions...

1. Is this a gadget or a real piece of time saving equipment? My skid steer quick attach on the front of my Kubota L3830 is awesome! Is the 3 point quick hitch also awesome?! :laughing:

2. How much slop does the implement have that's attached to the quick hitch. I don't want the implement rattling and bouncing around.

3. Can I operate from the drivers seat?

4. Will they fit all my implements?

5. Who is a good manufacture? I'm not buying TSC or Harbor Freight "Made in China" wares. Examples of good manufactures are Frontier, Woods, Kubota, Land Pride, etc.

6. Can I get Kubota orange?! Hahahah :laughing:

I hook up to a bush hog, carry all, grader blade, box blade, trailer mover and 6' tiller. I may have something else I'm forgetting. So I could sure use something to save the time and hassle of disconnecting the links.

do you need it? no .....after you have one will you give it up? no.....I have the cheap harbor frt one and yes it has slop but I'm not giving it up either. It's not as great as the front skidsteer qh ....but it's close. The other little additive I really like is the pto overrun clutch....makes hooking up the shredder so much easier.

I have a John Deere Imatch and love it. Cant get by without one. Not much play, it really depends on what you are doing. For the most part, as long as you have 30" from the middle of both lower links on your attachments and i thing 20" vertically for the top pin it should hook up fine. Is it all name brand stuff or is some of it home made? most name brand equipment is quick hitch compatible.

I have the IMatch setup too, it is a real time saver for my uses. It works fine if your implements are set up properly with very little added play. For my uses it removes any hesitation to change implements as the need arises.

I would compare it to a SSQA such as on my 110tlb, I do have to get off the seat to open and close the latches and plug in hoses, but no heavy lifting or pinch bars are needed for the alignment process. The same is true for the IMatch, while I can open and close the latches from the seat I still have to plug in hoses, connect the pto shaft and raise parking stands as needed. That is still much easier than wrestling with the heavy implements for alignment to the standard hitch.

I have the Deere Quick Hitch. Didn't use it for almost a year since it didn't fit any of my implements other then my Deere ballast box.
But then I bought a Frontier RFM set up for the quick hitch and since that is my most used implement, I'm pretty happy with it.
Now, I've got to modify my chipper and (maybe) my rotary cutter (haven't used that this year due to a pipeline being constructed on the field I maintain...the construction company mowed that field this year).

It's a nice addition, but I really think the Pat's Easy Change is more versatile.

I love the Harbor freight one I have, I don't use the top hook much Just use the adaptor, You can order from them, or build one. I just bought several sets of cat 1 to cat 3 lower lift pin adapters, very little slop, no more than on a larger farm tractors.

Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes. Get a Woods quick hitch, and adapt it and/or your attachments to fit. It takes a little practice to learn to just back up and hitch up to something, but all in all, it's a whole new life. It's like going from crank windows to power windows, or from standard shift to automatic. I can't IMAGINE hooking up implements without one. The guy who invented it should get a Nobel.

Both my NH have Land Pride quick hitches. I use them for a Bushhog rotary cutter, a Land Pride tiller, Land Pride rake, an Ag-Mieir finish mower, and a Red Master harrow.

1. Would not be without one. Easy to back up so the hitch hooks engage the bottom pins on the implement, adjust the top hook to engage the top pin, lift up the 3pt, close the latch handles, and hook up the pto shaft.

2. I buy the LP bushings for the pins so they fit tight, I move the hook so there is no play.

3. I have to get off to open/close the latches and to move/hook up the hook.

4. Maybe, maybe not. I had to get a longer driveshaft for my finish mower as the quick hitch adds to the distance between the pto attachment points and there was not enough play in the original shaft.

5. I am very happy with my 2 Land Pride hitches.

6. A can of spray paint goes a long way.

No need for a quick hitch over here. My tractors 3pt hitch has flexible/extendible lift arms. This combined with a hydraulic top and tilt makes changing and using implements super easy as well.

I have a Speeco quick hitch and love it. Matter of fact, I never take it off. works with my blower, back blade, middle buster...etc... like someone else mentioned, with the proper bushings, there really isn't much "play".

I've got a Land Pride Quick Hitch and wouldn't be without it. Drop the 3PH, back up, and pick up the 3PH... If there's no PTO shaft you're done. A Hydro top link makes things even easier.

The Land pride is made in Kansas... a big selling point for me! I believe the Woods to be re-branded Chinese.
Befco makes one like the I-Match, without the adjustable top hook, and LEE makes a really nice heavy duty one.

Usually part of a manufacturers "deluxe" 3pt hitch. Makes mounting an implement easy.

Now isn't that something! Never saw anything like that before. That would make it way to easy to connect when you don't back up completely straight, it's almost like cheating isn't it!
I also want to get the quick hitch and the hydraulic center link but I just have not got around to it. The one from harbor freight would be fine with me. I really want the quick connect so I can put it on and adjust the side sway bars and never have to move them again. I really hate having to adjust those sway bars every time I need to hookup and or disconnect. I want the HCL just because I am getting pretty lazy as I get older.

The bottom holds both if it can't come out the bottom because it's locked in then it can't raise out the top

Right, every 3 point attachment that I have seen has rigid frame so that the top pin can't move up or down from the bottom pins.

The problem now is the old stuff and some new stuff will not fit a I-hitch / Quick Hitch without some modification.

We use Pat's quick hitch system on our MX5800 and also used it on our L3800. We really like it. We also have the extending ends of the lower lift arms on the MX5800 but we use Pat's system regardless and it works better for us. We did have to buy the version of Pat's that reduces the 3PH hook-up size from Category 2 to Category 1. FWIW (if anything), we previously used the Delta Hitch system. It works great but it costs a lot to put the female components on all of your attachments. We like Pat's system better.
