Do I need skid shoes?

You couple probably have a welding shop make you a pair for a little less.

Here are a couple pictures of the shoes on my rear blade. They did cost over $100, which at the time I thought was a bit much.

I just put the blade on yesterday just in case we received a plowable snow, but it looks like we won't be getting enough to worry about.

Picture #2 (a close up).

Notice that the shoes are adjustable for height by loosening the bolts and moving the shoes up or down.

Wow, a hundred bucks /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif I knew steel prices were high, but....
I think I paid around $13 ea for two of the round style from TSC a couple years ago, then I made brackets for them myself. The plate with the gusset seems so much simpler, maybe since going to guage wheels I should put my old skid shoes on ebay /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Don't put them on E-Bay, sell them to me! Seriously, if you want to get rid of them and they will fit my blade I will buy them. PM me if interested.

How about a pic instead... in all their rusted glory /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif
I tend to hang on to stuff like this, you just never know when you may want to adapt them to something else. I found an old pic that might give you some ideas if you choose to make them yourself. The bracket utilized one hole that was already on the blade and when I got rid of that blade, I just unbolted them and stuck them in my pole barn. I suppose I could have given more thought to the spacers, but they worked... just not as well as guage wheels.
With the price of steel, it might cost a hundred bucks to make them again /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Here's a pic of my guage wheels. I shelled out for a can of spray paint for these brackets /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif Like I mentioned earlier, they were adapted from my landscape rake, which is also a Woods. They are reversible or come off easily if needed with hitch pins.

I bought a 6 foot blade about a week ago for plowing snow. I too found that it was digging into my gravel driveway. I decided to build my own skid shoes. I stopped at Lowe's tonight and bought some flat steel stock, then after 3 hours of cutting and welding I now have these shoes on my blade. first a shot of the shoe itself after welding but before mounting:

finally, the front side of the shoe. I have not tried it yet, but we are supposed to get 5" of snow tomorrow!
