Re: \"Do it all\" rotary cutter...

DarrylG, I like my finish mower, but for what they cost, I've thought sometimes maybe I should have just used the brush hog (rotary cutter). I did sharpen the blades on the last one I had considerably sharper than the original. The only problem with doing that is the fact that the sharper (or thinner) edge will get nicked or dinged (are those good words?) a lot faster, so I sharpened them frequently and even replaced them once (in only 4 years) because I had ground off better than a half pound of steel from each blade.

Re: \"Do it all\" rotary cutter...

Bird - Thanks for your reply. That's pretty much what I thought. I just don't want to weaken the blades too much and risk having them break. Replacing them after a while sounds like a good idea, except I don't have the tools to remove them. It will probably be years beofre I have to worry abouth that thougt. I'm been "honing" them on rocks that I have sticking up on my woods roads, so maybe I won't have to grind them after all?!
