Kubota B2320 DT (Gear)
I had mentioned in my review of my new B2320 that tires and RIMs mismatched brands.

I then later visited the dealer while it was closed and looked through all the tractors.

The tires and RIMs were like 4 brands and there was no consistency.

Some tractors would have all 4 match Rim and tires and another would not.

Two exact tractors next to each with same type of tires may have different brands. Or the reverse from front to back.

So I think tires and rims are handled seperately from the tractor.

I kinda wondered why it was no big deal to switch tires last minute because I thought they would have to swap them from another tractor or something.

But I think they stock tires and RIMs seperately and slap them on each tractor as they come in.

Not sure they come from Kubota but they have like 4 brands of RIMs.

Some dealer may exclusively use one brand than another dealer.

This probably makes sense because the tire types are probably very local specific.

Some tires are different because they are speed rated. This is so you do not experience blow outs when picking up speed to ram fixed objects. :D

I imagine Kubota out sources its tires and maybe its rims. I know most car makers do. I would suspect that most tractors are shipped with tires and rims, but maybe not mounted to the tractor. I would think that most tractors would have matching tires and rims, but at a large dealership, they may get mixed up.

My tractor came with Firestones on the back, Goodyears on the front.

I would agree with Mr. Dodge Man. Tractors never come with their wheels attached, so in a large shipment, you'd end up with crates of tractors over here, loaders over there, and tires over yonder in that box. When final assembly occurs at the dealership, they just grab the correct size and roll with it.

I don't think Kubota has a lot of control over it...it would depend on the ****-retentiveness of the assembly man at the dealership to ensure all the tires match manufacturers.

Personally, I'm glad that I have one of those dealerships with ****-retentive assembly guys AND maintenance guys. My tractor always purrs like a kitten and looks like gold whenever I get it back from the dealership. They've taken exceptional care of me and all my tires match.

Non-matching tires or rims from right to left would bother me to no end...I probably wouldn't accept the tractor that way. Not front to back, though.

It could also be that in some tire sizes, one manufacturer makes one (front) and not the other (back), requiring the use of different brands. Not Kubota's fault. Just another idea to consider.

I never said they mismatched left to right. All pairs of RIMs and Tires matched. It's only front to back that varied.

How can you tell that the front rims didn't match the rears? Was it the color? I think, in most cases, front and rear rims have very little in common other than being round and painted.

As mentioned, the brands of my tires are different but the type, R1, is the same. So no big deal. Obviously if the type of tire was mismatched front to rear that would not only be unacceptable but could possibly damage a 4wd tractor.

I bought a L2800 last year from a Rome GA dealer. I think they get the rims and tires locally. Had Titans on the rear. David............

I have the bar/turfs and the fronts and rears are different brands and styles. The front rims are distinctly different from the rears too. I suspect that since particular sizes are needed, they have to go to different makers for them. Makes no difference to me.

You can tell different brand rims after you look at bunch. Some have a logo stamped on them. Some have a common model number scheme etc. Some have the brand name stamped on them. Some I think are actually made by kubota.

Ever notice how the rims fade out differently than the sheet metal on the tractor? It is the same with the hydraulic cylinders.

I asked my Kubota dealer about it and he said that Kubota outsources those components. The smaller companies don't have EPA paint recovery techniques and equipment so have to use water-based paints. The parts look good new but fade at at different rate.

His tractors and attachments, some from smaller companies, sit out in the blazing California hot sun so he has to sell them ASAP or they look used after a while and he has to discount them.

When I had to replace tires on my Case CX80 this year, I checked numerous dealers and online sources and was unable to find matching brand front and rear, so I got a different brand on the front and rear. As long as they are the right size I don't worry about it; haven't bothered to check on my 2660.

The M series tractors come with wheels and tires mounted from the factory mostly TITAN brand. The L series tractors come crated with the tires shipped outside the crate. Each tractor is ordered from kubota with different tire otions no brand selection though....
I am sure they probually have a couple different suppliers for wheels

Rims/tires are weird. You can order tires mounted on rims from your salesman (er, salesperson) cheaper than replacement tires from the parts counter. Dunno why, but it is true.

Goodyear in the back, Carsile in the front. The Carsile tend to leak easier.

I questioned my dealer about the front/rear mismatch on my new l3400 and was told that the wheels and tires are ordered by part number and they never really know what brand they are going to receive until they arrive.(wheel and tire assemblies are obtained through various Kubota warehouses in the U.S.). (I had Goodyear s on the front, Titan s on the rear).

Don't know all of the brands that they supply, but Titan is huge in the off road wheel/tire business...In fact I toured their plant a while ago...Very impressive operation.

On my M5040 I have R1 Firestones on the rear and Titans on the front. One thing I have noticed is that the Titan tires on the front are showing a lot more tread wear on the lug bars then the Firestones.

The Firestones have "Field/Road" tire written on them and the Titans don't. It's pretty obvious that the Titans at least in my case are not holding up as well as the Firestones.

I have to drive a 1/4 mile on paved roads to get back and forth to some of our property and it's taking it's toll on the Titans.

The front tires always wear more than the rears, they turn more times. We used to go through 4 sets of fronts per rears. My R4's are all titan's and the front are at 40% while the bar code is still on the rears.

Mine came with mismatched rims across the front. Same width and offset just different wheel centre pattern.

the fronts also slip more. Typicaly the front tires are setup to have a 2-4% lead, meaning they turn 2-4% further than the rears are turning. This causes them to wear more and is another reason not to run your tractor in 4WD when you don't need it.
