Yes they do, if you think about it they are rated to pick up very heavy loads without going over forwards. Logistically this means they have to be very rear end heavy. Motor etc is all in the rear to allow for picking up 1000+ pounds on the front end.

Take your time and get used to it. Depending on what you are doing going up an incline forward is fine as long as you are carrying a decent amount of weight on the front and you are carrying the load low to the ground. However if you are questioning the balance then as others have said, back up the hill rather than go up forwards. Much safer. :)

It also depends highly on the particular model. I've had some that would, and some that don't. Some you can't even drive it up on a trailer without the bucket on, some get a little light, and my current machine does not care at all. Wheelbase has a lot to do with it and generally the larger machines have a longer wb for stability with higher loads. This also comes with increased tire wear.

Thanks guys! My Gehl 3640e arrived yesterday with BH attachment on it and bucket slide over into my yard. :thumbsup::D Tried to pick bucket up with BH bucket but kept sliding off.
Drove the SS up gravel road to my barn. Finally got one hose off and finally gave up on the second hose. Couldn't get it off and couldn't get the other hose back on. Had this problem a couple of times with tractor hydraulics and had to loosen a fitting on tractor to relieve pressure. The SS has flat style hydraulic fittings so not sure how to relieve pressure on them. Some people whacked the nipple on the hyd fittings on the Kubota tractor hyd to relieve pressure but that never worked for me, guess I wouldn't hit it hard enough fearing damage. My bucket is still down in my front yard.
Today, I'll try unhooking or hooking up unhooked line and see if I can relieve pressure by closing the hyd ram on bucket which is now fully extended. If that doesn't work I'll try loosening fitting on Bh lines where they connect to BH ram. Any better ideas?

The flat-face skid steer hyd connectors are meant for connection under pressure (and removal under pressure also). Any of the ones I've used have a little dimple that has to be indexed into a slot to pull the retaining ring back for removal. Shouldn't be anything more than just push to hook it up. Be aware that some machines have 3 connections. The 3rd one is just a direct return to tank line for specific applications

Skid steers are a lot of fun. My New Holland LS 160 was a beast. Id buy another in a heart beat if I needed one

I worked on a horse farm about 20 years ago and they had a skid steer that i ran a lot. I was cleaning up some brush on the hill leading down to the low ground and worked it from the top as much as i could but had to do some from the bottom. The front end kept popping up and I would flip it back down and do it again until I finished. A few weeks later a guy with a 955 cat track loader and a dump truck acme and leveled the hill out. He said I had scared the lady that owned the farm and she did not want me to have to work on that hill again. Ed

Most loaders of any type, you keep the weight uphill.... and as low as possible. I had a neighbor that just about bought the farm with a tracked skid steer on a steep hill... He was operating on the flatter top and got too close to the side slope. He started skidding slowly sideways when he tried to move, and eventually started going faster. Small tree stopped him, and he pulled it back up with his winch/dozer.

Supposed to push flat faced couplers back for 5 seconds before hooking or unhooking.

From page 22-23 Bobcat manual;

HYDRAULIC CONTROLS (CONT'D) Relieve Hydraulic Pressure (Loader And Attachment) WARNING AVOID BURNS Hydraulic fluid, tubes, fittings and quick couplers can get hot when running machine and attachments. Be careful when connecting and disconnecting quick couplers. Front Auxiliary Quick Couplers When Connecting: Push the quick couplers tightly together and hold for five seconds; the pressure is automatically released as the couplers are installed. When Disconnecting: Push the quick couplers tightly together and hold for five seconds; then retract the sleeve until the couplers disconnect.

That works on some, but not all Bobcats. My V417 has a pressure release lever.

John what does your manual say about removing the couplers?

Took open end wrenches to barn to loosen fitting at BH lines like I done on my Kubota tractor when I couldn't attach line. First tried the attached line and it almost fell off itself. Guess pressure had went down over cold night and time. Unhooked BH and went down and attached bucket and done a couple of hours familiarizing myself with my new SS. Different than the tractors I've owned and I like it!!!! Thanks for input. Found owners manual in a black plastic box beside drivers seat.
