I just read about this purple paint law In Australia most people would laugh themselves silly after reading this. It's just astounding. For new laws you could bring mauve, pale purple, mulberry, Northwestern Purple and a dozen others (reference: Shades of purple, Shades of purple - Wikipedia).
Then what about those that are a color blind? They won't be able to interpret the signs correctly. Good reference and example here: Coloring for Colorblindness

Apparently you have never heard of "kids are like farts, they aren't as bad when they are your own".

My boys are in high school now. I tell every teacher I meet, for whatever reason, that if my boys EVER get out of line, don't be afraid to give them a swift kick in the rear end (every teacher tells me they aren't allowed to do that, but I tell them to call me on my cell ANY time they get out of line). Punishiment will always be worse at home than any "in school suspension" the school can dish out.

Sometimes adults get it right, sometimes they get it wrong (and I learned that after some calls on my end after one boy was put in an in school suspension, which was dropped as the principal got it wrong, and I will always think she is an idiot), as a parent, it's your due dillegence to find out the truth and deal with accordingly when you talk get information from both the child and adults.

Point being, I trust my wife more than my kids.

Kids left unattended without knowing repercussions of their "bad" actions can cause a lot of damage/hurt IMO.

That said, when I was a kid myself, I'm guilty as charged LOL.

The issue IMO is that some parents think that their own kids can do no wrong.

As adults, I think we tend to foget what kind of crap we use to pull as kids ourselves (OK, maybe I was the only problem child here LOL).

I can still remember Mr. Brill in shop class when I got that 36" wood paddle across my butt, and the aniticpation of getting whacked with it (don't remember what I did, but have no doubt I deserved it LOL). I can also remember my mom telling me to sit in my room and wait until my dad came home from work to deal with me (EDIT - The wait for my dad was worse because I had no clue what was going to happen LMAO).

In Texas, if the land has an agricultural valuation and is fenced; climbing over a fence is a class B misdemeanor, if u climb over with a firearm it is a felony.

Actually you don't even have to climb fence and set foot on the property.
"Sec. 62.0121 A person commits an offense if
the person, while hunting or engaging in recreational shooting, knowingly discharges a firearm; and the projectile from the firearm travels across a property line."
Of course the code go's on to account for owing both propertis or having permission for both.
As for paint and signs,both are used in Tx but as a courtesy to those that don't realize they are tresspassing simply by going on property without invite. Were that not the law,one could make themselves at home in your swimming pool or front yard without fear of repercussion. I believe you folks in states where it's the landowners burden when it come's to tresspassing should pressure lawmakers to shift burden to tresspassers. I find it absurd that some jazz-ax can load up his hunting blind,pond boat or camping gear then drive around to find someone elses property to set up shop. Hells bells why should a person buy and maintain lake property if he can park his rv on any unoccupied lot that doesn't have purple trees or painted signs forbiding it? I would feel the same way posting my recreation lot as I did when me and my brother pulled into a diner for lunch and found signs on walls "no spitting on floor","no swearing or cussing at games". Now isn't that classy?

Indiana's purple paint law is a private property marker, which means no trespassing.

Yeah, we painted our signs purple couple years ago. Much easier and less expensive than sign replacement.


Indiana law HB1233:


1) each purple mark must be readily visible to any person approaching the property and must be placed:

(A) on a tree, as a vertical line of at least 8 inches in length and with the bottom of the mark at least 3 feet and not more than 5 feet from the ground; and not more than one hundred 100 feet from the nearest other marked tree;

(B) on a post, with the mark covering at least the top 2 inches of the post, and with the bottom of the mark at least 3 feet and not more than 5 feet 6 inches.

There's a 50 acre lot abutting mine which has been visited once by the owners in the 20 years I've lived here. My neighbors have been here for 30 years and never seen them. What does it hurt for me to take a walk through it with my dog?

We have millions of acres of private land here which is available to the public in some way, shape or form. We also have laws protecting those landowners... i.e., unattended tree stands need to be labeled with the owner's name and taken down after hunting season.
It would take someone pretty brazen to just camp out on your developed lot... I doubt that signs would keep them from doing so.

That's the case in your state... as I mentioned before, viewpoints change as you go from east to west.
It's one thing to express viewpoints here though, and another to act on them. In a few years I hope to have a lot more free time and plan to do some traveling, to visit some of the things I've only heard about; I really would like to get out to the west coast and see their trees. When in Rome, do as the Oregonians do...
