An update on the mower. I hooked it up to the Kubota and gave it a whirl in the big field. had to stop and adjust height several times. Blades are pretty worn so they need to be replaced. I did pump some grease in the gear box. Cut pretty good, I was pleased so far. As I was finishing up, it started vibrating some. I kept an eye on it. When I finished and went back to the barn, I was looking it over real good and notice that one of the gear box bolts was laying on the deck. I then noticed that another bolt had disappeared. The bolts looked pretty new that attacked the box. There is only two bolts holding it down right now....guess I get to take the stump jumper off and replace bolts and use a lock washer which they probably did not use so they got loose and came off. I'll also use some red loktite to make sure that they stay put. There is a small crack that runs from the deck to where the gear box mounts. I may get someone to stick weld that while I have it apart. I will also replace the gear box seal on the bottom so I can refill with oil. Or at least add some oil to the grease in there now. I hate it when someone did not use the correct lock washers to hold something down that is hard to get at for a fix. I would never do that even if I were going to sell it. Do it right and someone will appreciate it.
I have a mig welder with gas, but I'm not sure it is powerful enough to weld up the crack. Think it would work on a mower deck like this?
