Did the cold air intake effect the exhaust tone?

In my pre-retirement job, I used to tune the engine noise. What you hear is both induction noise (cold air inlet) and exhaust noise. It is not just the loudness, but also the relative frequencies of the noises generated. What is desirable is a frequency 4 times crank rotation (engine firing frequency of an 8 cylinder engine). If the runners for the intake or exhaust manifold are of significantly different lengths, this induces what are called half order sounds that give a muddy or not powerful impression. Most customers like relative quiet while they are just tooling along listening to the radio, but want to be able to hear the engine when they accelerate, and they want the sound to be powerful and confident. Thus the gimmicks to try to give both quiet cruising and a sound of power when accelerating.

My V10 F250 doesn't have much of an exhaust note but the intake noise is glorious at 5k rpm's!
