Do you lube your 3-Point linkages?

I have a Cub 7260 and I do oil my swivels. I also clean them out every now and then to keep dirt from building up. Does it really make a difference?? Probably not a huge difference, but its not metal grating on metal. :)

I use silicone spray. Dry to the touch but leaves a residue...graphite would be good too.

I do grease mine's 3PH joints sometimes, & feel bad when they look dry & shiney, like maybe I'm neglecting them, but never was sure if I should lube them.

I use chain/cable lube in a spray can. It's formulated to repel dirt and dust. I use the NAPA brand but I'm sure there are plenty out there. I spray the ball when it's attached. The lube foams and soaks in. It's not near as messy as grease.

I greased mine once or twice in 20 years. Its stored inside so no rust troubles. I actually am glad they are slightly work. It make the hook up easier than when they are new..So id say if youhave grease on your hand then dab some on.... but dont be to concerned , they dont get much wear..

I give 'em a squirt of Fluid Film...more for rust prevention then lubrication.

I smeared some grease on my balls and pins (Wow that sounds dirty...) but really they don't move a whole lot anyway.

I had some worn out balls on an 8N that were so loose they were just about to fall out. That's why I lube now. You know, to keep my balls from wearing out. :ashamed:

You know. There are a fair number of members here with worn out balls. Me included. If I knew grease would help I would have used it a long time ago. Question. If Turkey was attacked from the rear would Greece help? Ok enuf already. sry couldn't resist.:D:D

Never. They MIGHT sieze if not used for extended periods of time. Normally used, they'll never seize. Lubing the pins serves no purpose, other than greasy hands.

When I bought my L4400 last month, one of the ball joints was nearly seized. I kept working it and sprayed some fluid film on them. Since my tractor ownership started a whole year and a half ago , I keep the ball joints lightly greased.
