Ok now I feel better.

I don't hate snakes, but I do respect them. Just last week some 4 legged critter decided that he/she was going to set up housekeeping under the siding in the front of the house behind the bushes. It pulled out some of the foam and fiber glass insulation, so I assume that it did some excavating of the sheathing also. On Friday, I set out the Havahart trap and so far it hasn't caught anything in it. I did investigate a little more today, and found that there was a large shredded snake skin under one of the bushes. My best bet it that the snake has already taken care of my rodent problem. All these posts about snakes and killing them make me wonder why people are so hateful of these critters. If, while you are in the woods beyond your home, and you respect them and don't try to intimidate, aggravate, or harass them, they will also leave you alone. There has to be a reason that G-d put them on his green earth. Why the need to kill them if they are just out there doing what they do best.. controlling rodent populations? I can understand the reasoning if you have children or pets and they are within your outside living space, but in the woods where they belong, this I can't understand. There are times when we, as human beings have to rise above killing just because our emotions don't appreciate the animals of our environment. I can understand killing for food, or safety, but not just for the reason that we are invading their habitat and they are there.
