While walking the woods trail yesterday evening I spotted the deadly copperhead right on the edge of the trail. The wife was following me and did not see the snake even after I pointed it out. She was going to go walking by herself but I stopped my project to join her for the evening walk. This incident has me thinking that I need to get her some snake chaps. Does anybody use them?

This was just our neighborhood coachwhip, he is a keeper. He has been around now for about five years and is close to six feet long now.

Isucrazy, The copperhead lives, I couldn't find a long enough stick that wasn't rotten. He won this round we had to turn around. He wasn't about to move for no one.

I don't know about the snake chaps, but why not just some boots that are tall enough?

Bird, How tall is tall enough for the copperhead? I need to do some research to find out the location of copperhead leg bites.

Don, I don't know how tall is tall enough, so I sure wouldn't want to give you bad advice. Personally, if I had on 10" tall boots, I wouldn't even worry about copperheads, but I could be wrong. The only time I worried about them was when picking up something, such as lumber or brush, and finding one underneath it, and of course, it wasn't my legs that I was afraid might get bitten.

Personally if the boots went up over my head it wouldn't be tall enough. I hate snakes I don't care what kind I just hate them. I absolutely see no reasons for snakes to exist. Not one snake has ever helped me in life and I hate them.

Ok now I feel better.
