They allow vertical movement in the arms, made it a little easier hooking up the new rake.

The other side. I have to remove the pin to rotate them to the fixed position.

Got them on my 4210. I think I read they are useful for like rotary mowers, to allow some up and down play. I just keep mine in the fixed location. I use a chain setup on the front of my rotary cutter so it will following the ground.

My ford 5000 has extendable lift links as well as a slot in the lift arm link similar to that to make it easier to hook up implements.

I have something similar though I noticed the newer 790's don't. I never paid much attention to it until I used my rake one day and put it in the "float" position. It allows the implement to float with the terrain much better and on the rake it means less gouging.

Now I leave it in float mode for most everything. Even my rotary cutter now rides on it's skids instead of digging in on uneven ground.

Try it, you may like it for more than just hook-up /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

They allow 'twist' of the attachment relative to the tractor. In thier rigid or fixed position, the attachment like a rotary cutter cannot roll or twist, which takes a lot of stress and strain off the attachment.
If one side of the rotary cutter goes over a small hill or ground mound, it will try to lift that side of the tractor if the links are not floating a bit. Easier on the equipment if floating, and more flexible to hookup attachments if still doing that without the iMatch. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

No iMatch for me yet. I only have one implement. It just seems like something else to take off to put the backhoe back on /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif
