Went to pull the wheels off my BX24 yesterday to install some metal valve stems and was very dismayed to find two lug bolts on the left rear wheel stripped. One a little but one had major strippage. There was evidence of grease around the one really bad one so it appears someone knew there was a problem and lubed it trying to get it in or out.
So the question is- is this a factory defect? Or does the dealer install the wheels when the unit gets final assembly at the dealer.

Either way I'm pretty ticked:mad:

I was able to clean up the tapped hole in the axle flange pretty well, I was quite surprised the lug bolts turned out to be 1/2x20, I would have thought they were metric. I'm going to check the dealer today to see if they have two on hand.

To the best of my knowledge, final assembly of BX tractors occurs at the dealership; that's where your investigation should begin.

Most all models ship in an angle iron crate; sometimes partially covered with plastic/cardboard. Tires/wheels ship with tractor but loose. Some models use 2 studs with regular lug nuts to bolt down rear axle to a steel plate welded to the crate/cage. When tractor has wheels installed the remaining holes use wheel bolts vs studs/nuts; so lots of Kubota's, mine included use 4 lug bolts and 2 studs/nuts on the rear axle. I don't know for sure, but the larger Kubota's, like the big JD's are delivered with wheels/tires and mostly complete, and brought in on a flatbed 18 wheeler.

In Canada they are fulling assembled, no crates and are received in a C-Can

mine was shipped in a crate with the wheels not attached to the tractor. the dealer did the final assembly. i believe the backhoe was also separate on mine.

Most likely, but even if it was cross threaded while being bolted to the crate before shipping, the dealer assembler/PDI tech should have remedied the problem and submitted warranty claim rather than squeezing the trigger of the impact a little harder and longer.................. Still, the service at most tractor/equipment dealers far surpasses the service from most car/truck dealers.

This has changed over time. A few years ago they came without tires attached in an angle iron crate. Today they come with the tires on in a drive off crate that gets returned to the factory.

The BX24 is a tractor loader or tractor loader backhoe and is fully assembled at the factory. The loader and backhoe as well as wheels were mounted there.

The selling dealer should have caught this during PDI when torquing up the lugs. Apparently not done then.

Warranty would cover it if the dealer was involved.

The BX24 loader backhoe is not crated. It is fully assembled and leaves the plant on a truck trailer stacked 6 ( or so) deep. Since the back hoe and loader are factory installed there is no crate available.
