2011 Kubota 1100 RTV 1100 Diesel Powered Snow Plow Curtis | eBay It sold for $7400. I was trying to contact him to make sure it was not a scam. He wanted 50% wired to him before pick up. That scared me. He did answer my e-mail though. Wouldn't give a phone # to call. I offered to come out inspect vehicle and go to bank and give him cash. No answer. 2011 RTV 1100 sounds too cheap.

TOO cheap, never pay money forward before pickup. NO HONEST deal asks for payment prior to pick up. It just another variation of the same scam to send money to XXX, vehicle is in Kalamazoo but I am overseas etc.

of course thats a scam. especially the bank transfer.

there are more of these on ebay than on craigslist. its a filched account

I wouldn't touch the deal the way its set-up. I would NEVER send money to anyone before seeing the vehicle and seller in person. He doesn't even list where he lives. These scams prey on people wanting to get a bargin so badly it clouds their better judgement.

You did well to avoid that trap.

I'm selling a Vermeer stump grinder and have been approached by suspicious parties. They are apparently just fishing for account information, saying they can only use Paypal and are satisfied with the condition of the machine. So, it seems they target buyers and sellers.

These types should be rounded up and put in stocks in the town square where dogs can lift their legs and do their business! scum!

when i sold my old JD870 on craigslist i was getting lots of email from people wanting to send me money orders sight unseen, someone would drop by to take it. All scams. I ended up re-running the ad stating
1. cash only
2. will only sell to someone willing to come and test drive the unit
3. absolutely no trades.

it took several months, but i sold it for what i wanted.....which was 3x what JD offered me for a trade in haha

bank wire transfers , money orders and western union are the new rip off mediums these days.

if that ad were to use paypal for payment, at least the funds could be held in escrow till unit arrives. by requiring 50% down sight unseen means there willing to take 1/2 the asking price for the scam.

There ought to be a way that you could burn those scammers. Some time ago I had a item for sale on Craig list. Someone sent me a e-mail and wanted it. Said they would send a business check and I could deposit it and then they would send someone to pick it up. I thought I would jerk their chain a little. I said ok. They had Fed=X overnight me a check. I called the bank it was written on and it was a bogus check. It was Fed -x from Atlanta Ga. Sent them a e-mail and asked where I should send the paper work to. They gave me a address in N.C I had not given them a home address only a business address. I gave the check and paper work to the police. Called them and said the item was ready to be picked up and I gave them the address of the police station. Another fellow I know seen something on E-Bay. They wanted a check and said it was in Was. and would be shipped from there as soon as they received the money. He asked where he should sent the money to. They gave him a name and address in Tex. He went to Wal-mart and went to the magazine rack and got a bunch of those cards you send for a subscription and sent them with their name and address

Evidently this like was taken down by E-Bay or something happened because if you click on the link I had posted , it will take you somewhere else or maybe it was hijacked by the poster on e-bay.

The seller on Ebay had 308 sales with 100% positive feedback.Plus, you are covered by Ebay's protection plan.He would not have 100% positive feedback,or even be on Ebay if he was a scammer.
The other add in Indy was from last Nov.15
Looks like the Ebay seller(from Houston Tx.) got a good buy on this, and resold it.
Now he has 309 sales(gts75ta) check him out for yourselves

I like your thinking... I wish these guys would be caught and shot. Sorry, but I get sick of these types that scam. I am not as tolerant as I once was and I think if the punishment was harsher, the crimes would be reduced. A simple suspended sentence does nothing.

you dont understand what happens alot on ebay. people respond to fake emails about their ebay accounts and when they respond with their passwords..bammo their accounts are scammed. then the scammer sells non existant items they take pictures from somewheres else. It happens alot. when i was looking at ebay for horse trailers, nearly every nice gooseneck di found didnt exist. they were all newer $30,000 trailers selling for $4,00 or $7,500...that sort of thing. if you respond to the seller you get the scammer.

they all want to be paid a deposit OUTSIDE of paypal....they want bank drafts. this is the 1st clue its bogus.

Ebay even has a post on how to spot these fakes.

You are the one that is confused. This sale was on Ebay-not craigslist.Read the post that Ebay has on how to spot the scams on "Craigslist".They do it all the time on "Craigslist" and claim it is covered by Ebay protection.
This was not on "Craigslist" it was on Ebay.
You have Ebay confused with craigslist.

Just wait a while, he will pay someone to come take it. All he will need is their bank account info.

GRS is right...it was obviously a hijacked account...Also e-bay /paypal's protection services are very limited on automotive sales (anything with wheels)...it is nothing like they have for more common item sales..
