But hunting close to property lines is asking for a 50/50 chance of the deer going where they don't belong.

!!that is the truth. I have my neighbors stands facing towards my property line in two places, That is where we placed our double stands, and let him know we were bringing our kids with us. Shooting into my property is a no-no but dragging a deer out that they hit on their own property I am fine with. But its dragging it out no 4wheelers.

Here in Michigan the law says a 450 foot distance beween homes and outbuildings between the hunter discharging a weapon and the structures unless they have permission from the landowner to be closer than that. My property is a shade under 450 feet wide, the barn furthest from the roadfront is about 350 feet back from the road, and to be legal the people who hunt my land have to be within 150 feet of the far property line....meaning these is a 1 out of 3 chance whatever they shoot will end up close to the property line furthest from the road. Yet, none of them have ever even asked if they can move closer toward the buildings, even though they always shoot away from the buildings into open fields with no other structures within a half mile.

Correct. Also they need to make sure they have a good shot before pulling the trigger. Too many of the people tracking deer from one property through the next, through the next,,,, never had a good shot in the first place.

great answer, many lack the ability to hit what they want in the correct location.

This thread, and the start of rifle season coming up, has inspired me to get busy. Yesterday I put up new "No Trespassing" signs. Made sure one was exactly opposite of, and another very clearly in the view of a tree stand on the property line facing my place.

I know the closest house to the North has a new owner (met him last weekend) and I suspect that will mean a different crew hunting.

I also have seen a lot of activity to the south, and possibly that neas coupld be some different people that direction.

It will be interesting to see how this season plays out. The acorn crop seems very heavy.

Be well all.

I have a similar situation with my land. It all depends on the language of the lease. If you signed a lease saying you must give notification before you enter the leased area, then you were in the wrong. The lease I have says that the Landlord or his designee has the right to enter any part of the lease at any time, for any reason landlord sees fit so long as it does not interfere with Tenants activities. So I cannot go onto my tenants farm lease with a monster truck and smash his crops....but if I or someone I designate needs to go out there for a legitimate reason and we are not interfering with his operation, there is no breach of the lease.
