We’ve got a new Boston! He is kind of a rescue because he had a medical eye issue and was the last of the litter that no one wanted.

We took him in and got the eye condition fixed. It had to be removed so he’s learning to be obnoxious with one eye

Our best dogs have been rescue dogs that had a problem.

I came across a camp owner a few days ago who was out looking for his dog... a little Chihuahua which was scared of loud noises. His granddaughter had been up that weekend with some of those little "poppers" which you throw on the ground and they explode; the dog ran off and they never saw him again. I suspect that within a couple of nights he became somebody's dinner.

Ruger is the exact opposite; he comes running to the sound of gunshots. My previous lab was the same way, she wandered farther than she should have so I often carried a .22 revolver for a dog call.

Bless his heart! Did you name him "Captain Hook?". Our new Boston's name is "Presley". Sharn Jean is an Elvis fan extraordinaire, and so this beautiful little female is now the proud owner of this moniker. She is also afraid of fireworks and thunder. We had a male Boston years ago, and he was afraid of no one or no thing...except thunder

We have another "new" Boston (name pending) that is still at the breeder's; she won't be old enough for another 2 or 3 weeks.

Both my previous and current Labs hesitate when going down stairs, and they have two eyes.
