I have two labs, a silver male that is about 18 months old, and a charcoal female that is around 6 months old. I am going to start breeding them probably next summer. They are fantastic dogs!

NO, the guy should have been chained up and left out in the same conditions as he left the dogs! Only forget to go back and check... ever.

We have had stories in the news over the years about things similar to this or puppy mills that have been shutdown, our pup is a rescue from one. With the people prohibited from having animals ever again but you know what some have been caught a second time so I consider that a baseless punishment.

Very high strung dogs for sure. I have a large portion of my 20 acres in underground dog fence o they can run out their energy. Then they're crate trained for when they do come inside.

Agree about karma! Those dogs are so lucky Rockbadchild was there and rescued them!

I don't understand why people get dogs and then leave them to die. What is the point?

We have one dog and our children ask for one more. We don't hurry because having a dog is an additional responsibility, extra expenses, etc. I want to be sure our pets receive proper care. And here the whole dog sled team left to die! Glad that man won't ever own animals.

I don't care about the excuses reasons. If you accept the responsibilities of an animal it's a lifetime commitment. Or at least grow a set and find somebody who will pick up your slack. I am on the same wavelength as this poster...

I never will claim to be a nice person when it comes to tolerating abuse of animals or kids.

I am not excusing it just stating the fact of how they got there… the fact that their was food there made it worse for me. he is as low as a human being as it gets

A long time ago my grand father was given a dog for him to put it down, he was very vicious. I am not sure of the back story on why and if my grand father decided to try to fix him or if he simply couldn't get close to him to put a leash to bring him away to do what he was asked to do because the dog would growl at him and try to bite him every time he got close. He had him tied up on the dog house and every day he would wrap a short chain on his hand and let it dangle out to bring him food, if he growled at him he got a wack, that lasted a few weeks until it stop, then he built trust and a bond with him. It went from that to the point where he would bring this dog to the local tavern and win bets with him... He never lost a bet, he would put a 60oz of vodka in his car with all the windows down tell the dog to guard the car and tell anyone in the tavern ''if you can take it it's yours'', then bet they couldn't get it... or he would bring a steak and his dog inside the tavern and bet how long he would last without eating it, he would drink all night then when it was time to leave he would tell the dog ok you can have it then leave. When solicitor came and knock on his door he would ask the dog to scared them off and he would. He was also very good with his kids (my dad and his brother and sisters) he never had a incident with him. This story always fascinate me espicially as I grow older.

One of my favorite Lab stories was a friend of mine who was a real critter person had her son visiting with his Lab. Son was trying to give the dog a pill and not having much luck. Mom says he's a Lab isn't he? Watch this, she drops the pill on the floor and the Lab pounces on it ! They can be gluttonous!

She always had Nuffies and lived on the lake which they loved but couldn't take the kids swimming because the dogs would drag the children back to shore!
