Hi TBN'ers,

I have no pics, but thought posting about working in mud might bring up some interesting responses.

Yesterday my neighbor called me to bury an Alpaca that she had to put down. There was/is standing water in our fields from days after days of rain. I decided to give it a try with my B2620, since the rather large animal will bloat and be quite a mess in a few day.

I put a Middle Buster on the 3-pt to loosen the turf for scooping with the FEL. The short version is that it was quite a mess, but I got'er done. Hosing the mud off the tractor took just about as long as the main event.

Y'All having to deal with this lousy wet weather? And don't ask me about my garden.

Had to move a young moose for my FIL after it died down by his drive way couple weeks back.

Fish and game said no need to bury it... -just go ahead and move it away from the driveway to the back 40 somewhere and leave it for the scavengers

All I can say is what a blessing a tractor with a good sized grapple is....

also got lucky with no mud AND he called Before Major bloating took place.

Wife's grandad was a farmer who had a horse die near barn. She and other kids in the neighborhood were sliding down barn roof, then bounce off the dead horse like a trampoline.
Then along comes this really fat kid who wanted to try it (no need telling ending as everyone can guess).
He slid off roof, when he hit the horse he went in. She said the smell was indescribable and a possum was in there.

wettest spring i can ever remember here, ground is truly saturated, water in places we have never seen it, most neighbors are having sump pump/septic drain field issues, no garden at all, doubtful we will have much this year - had 6 inches week before last, 1.5 last week, 1 inch sat, calling for rain through memorial day here except for wednesday, expecting 5 to 9 inches, its been pouring here since 4pm so likely have a pretty full gauge tomorrow. No crops in yet, our bottom ground has flooded once. I hate mud so been trying to stay out of it as much as possible, its hard on me, my yard and hard on equipment. My neighbors have been complaining about their zero turns and tearing up their yards, my 2038R has been ok but there are places i cant mow due or i would bury it and tear up more yard. Im leaving tracks in places that i will have to deal iwth at some point but for now its the best we can do around here.

I did a project last summer filling in my sloped yard and making a flat parking area for my trailers and truck. The deepest fill area is about 5' - 6' of fill dirt. It has settled more than I planned for so I am reworking it again now. Today I was unloading my dump trailer with more fill and the loaded trailer got stuck in the mud and I couldn't pull it out. The truck was on the gravel driveway and just couldn't get enough traction. I ended up dumping a little, pushing it out of the way, and dumping again over and over until the trailer was empty and light weight enough to be able to pull it out. I typically avoid working in mud but didn't have much choice today. I'm not messing with it again until it dries out more.

Dang it, we had 2 inches in downpour rain Saturday after I got some melons, squash and cukes planted Friday. Maybe those seeds didn't get wash away. But it started to rain again this afternoon and has not stopped......1.6 inches so far, with more on the way for about 24 hours. I wish I had a tractor that bails water out of the basement. A shop vac and 5 gallon buckets is the hard way.

I guess many have it much worse.

It’s been the wettest 365 days here in Virginia since record keeping began in 1871. Washington DC received more rain than London this past year. Our gravel road got washed out so bad we had to pay a company to come in with construction equipment to replace an old culvert and build a new one higher up the hill.

This is the first week of dry weather we’ve had in recent memory and I took the week off work to finally get stuff done around the property. The grass is taller than the hood of the old Ford 8N.

Not only is it not sinking in, the mud isn't sticking to the tires and filling in the treads...some places, it is like driving in thick peanut butter.
