Cozumel ! Went down 2 years ago and it was great. Beaches for the lay - about ---- activities for the active ... ie: snorkeling or even scuba ---- We rented a car (highly recommend) and traveled the whole Island -- found lotsa good eatin' ! -- but not at the resort we were at - that food was very mediocre. We took the ferry across to the mainland, (Playa) rented another car, and drove just a few miles down the coast to Tulum ruins (Mayan) ... it was pretty neat. 1 thing though --- be sure to go before July.... storms get a might too active after that. (hurricane season). Check with a travel agent - they have all sorts of package deals. Cozumel has one and only one industry - tourists. Course there's lots of shopping that can be done too. .... We were there for 4 days - packed it solid with stuff to do ---wish we had longer... I wanted to spend more time in a beach chair with a drink ..... as was I bet I got all of 2 hours doing that. ..... somehow I don't think a 4 month old would get a lot out of Disney ... or anywhere for that matter ... but the resort we were in was all family...

How do you feel about camping?

If money isnt an issue(someone else paying /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif) you can rent an RV and see several places. Most of it would be for the adults, sight seeing and so forth, but its easy to keep a todler happy when you have a mobile base camp /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif. Being from NE, the south would probably be a refreshing change of scenery after the winter at home. You could do the Outer Banks of NC(lighthouses, Kitty Hawk, the beach and such) travel through Wilmington, Charleston, Savana, ........... Ooops, you only have a week. You'd have to pick one or two to enjoy yourself. As was mentioned the mountains, Gatlinburg & Cherokee are beautifull places to visit even though a bit touristy.

I myself have seen most of the south and plan to venture out to Yellowstone or an Alaskan cruise. That will take more money than I can dedicate at this point, so I'll be sticking around here I guess.

Disney... only place I've handed over tons of money to and felt good after leaving. They really do treat you right there.

Stay in Jackson Hole, Wy, visit Snake River, Grand Tetons, and Yellowstone whenever you like. Your choice - Little or lots to do in a very scenic area.

What about picking your favorite lake and renting a house boat and some sea-doo's. 2 summers ago, my family rented a 65' houseboat on lake Ouchita in Arkasas. My wife and I brought our ski boat and her sister brought her sea-doo. That lake is a good size, super clean and has hundreds of islands, we stayed at a different island each night. It was great for everyone (3 generations), had air, hot-tub. The best vacation I have ever had.
Good luck, Dave

How about Detroit. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif One of the greatest places to visit is the Henry Ford. Lots of other places to visit too. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

That sounds like a great way to explore a new lake. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

I guess I should already mention that we get plenty of boating in every summer on my parent's 38' sailboat. Here's a shot of the "crew"

Ron,
First reaction would be DETROIT????? /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

But after spending time up there with work, there is ALOT to see. For those that arent familliar with it, he's not talking about downtown. Rather the Allen Park area. You could spend at least 2-3days in the Henry Ford and Greenfield Village alone..

I would like to plan a little more time there sightseeing myself. There are all the little towns, casino's, and vehicle plant tours as well.... Pretty interesting part of the country's history, and if you go durring the spring it might have some color instead of the winter grey... /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Mazatlan. We love to go there for Christmas(can't go this year). We have gone by ourselves, and also with whole family, parents, son ect. Price was reasonable, beach was really nice. Took some tours out to historic areas. Sat on the beach, at the pool too. Condo had beachfront bar service /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif We stayed at Torres Mazatlan, outside of town. Nice, quiet, but still easy to get back in to town.

Oh, Red Hook Bay in St Thomas is nice too.
