How about renting a houseboat on Lake Powell? Plenty of lounging, outdoor, and historical opptys for all. And the rentals have safety netting to keep little ones onboard.

Don't overlook taking a trip to Lake George, NY during the first two weeks of June. They host the "Americade" motorcycle rally for one week in June. I'm not sure if it's the first or second week but a google search on Americade will answer that question.

Last year I think they had over 50,000 motorcyclist in attendance

If motorcycles are not your thing, there's pleanty of other family things to do there.

Italy.

I spent 3 weeks with my family there two years ago. Everything is so close and accesable via trains.

Start in Milan, major hub. train to Vennis 3 hr. Who won't like Vennis?? No trafic/cars. Then train on to Florence, 3 hr. Again who won't enjoy seeing "David".

We rented appartments on all segments. Entire family of 5 for about 100 Euro per night. With kitchen, meals were as cheep as home.

Flights costs are often close to domestic flights. No need to rent a car, public trans is fantastic. In small restarants on the main street, 5-6 Euro meals with 5Euro 1 liter wine. In fact in Vennis, there are "wine filling stations". Bring back a few bottles and they refill to your choice of many wines for 1 to 2 Euros!!

Based on you like water:

Fly to Seattle in the summer. Lots of water stuff to do there. Seattle Center (space needle) has a lot of kid friendly activities. Beautiful weather / temps in the summer. It is CROWDED.

Or San Francisco area. Lot of touristy stuff to do, like visit Alcatraz, the bay, the bridge, etc. Or day trips outside SF, like to Hearst Castle, Monterry Bay, Napa Valley.

Ohhhhhhhhhhhh, I wanna go back!
