Don't buy from RGStaggs on Ebay

Ebay is a "I told you So" place to buy or sell stuff. If you get a good deal, someone will tell you "I Told You So" if you get a bad deal, same thing goes and someone will tell you so.

Just do a search for Kubota Tractors and see the number of them that are posted for under 3000 dollars, right! If it is too good to believe then just maybe it isn't a good deal.

Check out the sellers background and what he has for sale. If he is selling a tractor and all of his other listings are baby clothes, most likely he doesn't own that tractor. Best thing to do is send him a message about the tractor and wait for a response. If it is someone that has taken the persons identity either the right owner or Ebay will be in contact with you.

Most of the things I have purchased off from ebay have been low priced items, under $800 and I have never had a bad experience. I have purchased some high end stuff and was pleased with the deals. Bottom line is I think I have been very lucky. It is the worlds largest yard sale.

I would think a company that makes millions in proffit every year could hire poeple to look over these ads. You dont have to be an expert to find alot of the scammers, just look at the ads. Free shipping anywhere in the world on a tractor is a pretty good give away. I think that to sell items over 1k you should have to provide proof of identificiation to ebay. This way if you have a problem you have a real person to go after.

I've had very good luck with ebay. Just bought a midrange nVidia Quadro4 980XGL CAD card for $45. 3 years ago it was $700. Downloaded the drivers, and it works fine in my workstation.

I absolutely love using Ebay, yes there are some problems and the square deal thing is a joke. The feedback system also suxs because if you leave honest neg feedback it turns into a tit for tat thing. With that said just plain ole common sense and asking lots of questions has served me well. I now when I selll I only take paypal period and i will rarely bid on something from a seller who does not take paypal. Been burned once for $400 and it was M.O. deal. But I have bought everything from 99cent items to 5th wheels, trailers, HD motorcycles, and a 20ft bassboat and saved thousands doing it. It is getting harder to get a really good deal because of all the Noobs driving the prices up and not understanding how to really bid on ebay to get a good deal. So if you do use it learn how to use it. Bidding wars with 6 days to go is just kill me:D

We've been E-Bay sellers for a number of years now and we always try to be fair and square with our buyers 100% of the time. The internet in general isn't a nice place and neither is E-Bay You just have to exercise discretion and remember if the deal is too good to be true, it isn't.:D

I bought my tractor from a ebay dealer. his reserver wasn't met (poor pictures but I was the high bidder). Before I bidded we took an hour our of our way home one weekend to check it out. When the bidding was over we settled on a price. He was just an average guy getting out of the landscaping business. Of course I would never bid on something that 1000 miles away and could not see first. Just common sense and the drive would kill any savings.

Obviously the vast majority of eBay transistions are successful. Sue there are some scams, but if it was anywhere as bad as some here say it wouldn't have lasted as long or grown as big. I've done 10's of purchases and sales on eBay and never had a problem.

Very true ANDY i sell alot of stuff on ebay, it is a hobby and a way to make a few $$$ i frequent garage sales and estate sales and it is amazing what you can purchase at a low price and sell at a profit. i am always fair in my listings and have never had a negative feedback. right now i have 1 item that was won $6.99 and have not been able to get a responce from buyer (3 WEEKS) sometimes things happen, sickness, hospital, death, etc. i try to be fair and patient. have only left 1 neg. for a buyer but he was already kicked off. BUT I have never sent an item before getting paid.

Interesting as I have actually recieved 3 items before I had made payement-but rest assured I paid for them promptly.

Re FB's; whenever a seller FB me upon shipping (as it should be, afterall as a buyer I met my obligation= bid and paid) I make it a point to word my FB in such a way as others know that he is not a BLACKMAIL FBer.

I agree that the greatest number of sellers only FB IF you leave a pos FB, generally the big sellers only FB what you FB them.
It has become a 'blackmail FB system'

I shun sellers that openly state "we only FB after you do" because they are in reality openly stating "Blackmail'.
If they sell crap and you call their hand you get a neg so my method is to leave a pos FB and simply state 'goods recieved'.

My biggest bone of contention is lower priced goods that sellers agressively compete on with low opening or BIN prices and then mark up shipping as much as 100%.
Ebay calls it 'fee avoidance' but when the guy is a power seller they simply look the other way, while in fact that seller should be banned.

BTW, Homier (they have tractor related stuff and import tools) have a VERY fair shipping policy. Simply stated--they ship at actual cost!-big differance often.

I recently sold my sons BX2230 on e-bay out of necessity. I had never sold anything there before and I was apprehensive to say the least. The buyer had never bought anything on e-bay before so he was also very apprehensive. I stated everything up front and had good pictures. He lived 5- hours away so he did not see the tractor before he bid. We both made some mistakes before it was all over but he got a nice tractor with 85 hours for a good price. I will say PayPal is probably a safe way to sell and buy but on a large item it is expensive for the seller. My intension was to accept down payment only from PayPal but the buyer sent the entire amount by PayPal by mistake. So after a phone call from him I refunded the entire amount and he just paid me in full at the time of pickup. All's well, but a crook may have seen an opportunity. One thing I was not sure how to handle was e-mails from people wanting to know what was my reserve price, so I didn't tell anyone thinking it would not be fair to those that had made a bid.
